MCCOMB (NEE GILBERT), Sylvia

1942 - 2024

Please see reviewed funeral arrangements below.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sylvia McComb (Gilbert) on June 12, 2024. She died peacefully in Magog Palliative Care, at the age of 81.

Born in Bishopton, Sylvia was the daughter of the late Shirley Sanford Gilbert and the late Thelma Irene Evans.

She spent most of her adult life in Stanstead East near Ayer’s Cliff as the devoted wife to her surviving husband, William (Bill) McComb, for sixty-two years. She was a loving mother to her only child Billy who passed away in 1993.

Sylvia was predeceased by her sisters Linda, Patsy, and Joan and is survived by her sister Sharon, brother-in-law Chester McComb, and two brothers, Jeffrey and Steve (Ann). She will be fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, cousins and their families, her husband’s family and by many friends, neighbors and work colleagues.

Sylvia was known for her love of Christmas decorations; she was very proud that people came from all over to see her home all lit up at Christmas time. She took pride in her home and loved flowers. She always planted beautiful flower beds all over her property. She not only worked hard at home but at work also. She enjoyed a 25-year career at Jomac in Beebe, where she worked her way up to shop Manager.

Sylvia was a no-nonsense, amusingly direct woman who was very loyal and caring to those she loved. She was admired, appreciated, and loved by those closest to her and she will be missed immensely.

We wish to extend our gratitude for the staff at the Manoir Stanstead where she lived with her husband Bill for the last year and a half.

Visitation will take place a the Cass Funeral Home, 900, Clough st, Ayer's Cliff, QC, J0B 1C0, on June 26, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. followed by a funeral service. All are welcome. A small reception will follow.

Donations of flowers can be sent to or dropped off to the main office at:
