King, Susan D.M.
1950-2023
Our dearest, our treasured Aunt Susie, on the evening of Jan 6, and in her 73rd year, has left us to be with her mom and dad. And while she was our Aunt Sue, in reality, she was everybody's Aunt Sue. It was a role she took very seriously and shared with the world.
She was the living embodiment of love, giving and friendship, and she offered her heart freely to everyone she knew.
Everybody, e v e r y b o d y loved her. Today, she leaves behind exactly what everyone always talks about wanting to leave – she made everyone feel loved. Feel special. Feel valued. Her legacy is that to which we should all aspire, and she made the world better for it.
Her world may have been small, but her impact was seismic.
Sue is predeceased by her amazing parents, Captain Stanley, and Mrs. Elisabeth (Lis) King. She leaves behind her cherished sister and very best friend Penny Koch (Karl), and her brother Sandy King and sister Jill Pook (John). Aunt Susie will be missed forever and always by her beloved nieces and nephews Minna Donatucci (Bob), Eric Pook (Kim), Jeremy King (Nikki) and Aimee King, and her grand nephews Will and John Pook and Hudson King.
Sue will be in the hearts and minds of Sarah Cutts (Bryn Chamberlain), David Rosen (Liz Manley), Greg Rosen (Stella), Jamie Rosen (Michelle), Lylah Rosen, Anne Hertzberg, Freddie Koch, Diane King (Paul Couch), and so many cousins and friends. Thank you to everyone who came to visit Sue and give her your love and smiles.
She will live on in our hearts always, and we will say her name often. And truly, that alone will make us smile.
Be at peace, dear Sue. Go be with your angels, as you get ready to be one for all of us. We'll watch for you in the clouds and in the corners of the rooms.
Sue's family would like to thank the brilliant healthcare team at Saint Vincent Hospital in Ottawa for taking such wonderful care of her over the last few months. They gave her all of the love, comfort and care that she needed, and then some. Their efforts to keep her safe, warm and at peace will never be forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Children's Aid Society, the organization nearest and dearest to Sue's heart. She had a special place in her soul for children, especially those who needed extra help, and she would have been happy to know that her loved ones have helped to continue that legacy for her.
Celebration of life details to follow.
