Jibb, Robert Melville

JIBB, Robert Melville

1939 - 2023

It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Robert Melville Jibb on November 3rd at 84 years of age at the Temiskaming Hospital with his loving family by his side.

Survived by his cherished wife of 61 years, Theresa (nee Desrosiers)Jibb, son Brent (Karen) Jibb of Peterborough, and daughter Angela (Don) Parker of Englehart. Mel will be missed by his grandchildren Quincy Jibb of Peterborough, Kellen Jibb of Peterborough, Cody (Amy) Parker of Englehart, and Jacey (Ben) Parker of Englehart. He was the proud poppa of Beau and Sully Parker. He is also survived by his sister Carol (George) Clay of Whitby and many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Mel was predeceased by his parents Joe and Alice (Sherritt) Jibb.

Mel’s joy of sharing his knowledge and skills led him to become a teacher and Principal for the Temiskaming Board of Education for over 30 years. He retired in 1995 which gave him more time to do the things he loved which included fishing, spending time at the cottage, visiting the casino, and being with family and friends.

Mel leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and many cherished memories that will help us during this difficult time. He was as proud of his family as we were of him.

The family would like to thank Dr. Corbeil, her team, Kid, and all of the staff who helped make Mel’s month long stay at the hospital comfortable.

Cremation has been arranged with Timiskaming Funeral Cooperative and a Celebration of Life will be held in the spring. If desired, donations can be made to the Temiskaming Hospital or a charity of your choice. Temiskaming Hospital Foundation

The time to say good-bye, however inevitable, is never easy….
I remember Mel as a good natured, supportive principal at Kerns Public School….A positive, happy man who appreciated his colleagues, staff and friends…who loved his family, doted on his grandchildren and who welcomed other children who were fortunate enough to share time with Theresa and him in their home while parents worked…A very generous man…a pleasure to know…
May your many fond memories support you all through this sad time.
Sincerely,
Linda Henry

Nina and I are so sorry to hear of Mel’s passing. Mel made my years teaching at Kerns Public School highly enjoyable. We had a lot of fun not only at the school but in our commutes to the school! I will never forget working with him.

Aunt Theresa, Brent, Angela and family

Well you all know how close we were as a young family. Those were very special days. Aunt Theresa and Uncle Mel were and still are family to me . I was so glad that we kept in touch through the years. I will always remember his smile, and laughter quite often from the pranks that he liked to play on us uneducated. In particular the lesson of the wild carrot which apparently turned out to be a horseradish sure got a few giggles.
I know that it is very hard to loose a Dad, but he left plenty of cherished memories for you. Aunt Theresa, my sincerest sympathies. Thoughts are with you all.
