Evans, Robert T.

EVANS, Robert T.

1934 - 2024

Robert “Bob” Evans passed away in his 90th year on March 10, 2024 at the CHUS after a sudden illness.  He is remembered as a kind, soft-spoken man with a warm smile for everyone he met.  Bob was a graduate of the agricultural program at MacDonald College (now John Abbott College). He went on to work at Bell Telephone for 37 years as a repair technician until his retirement in 1992.

He volunteered at the Lennoxville United Church, assisting with various repairs and up-keep projects as well as serving on committees.  In his spare time, he worked on his parents’ family farm and went on to help his aging mother to remain in her home in Georgeville until her death in 2007. He kept his home heated with wood that he and his brother Eric cut and was always fixing something for someone!

Bob was pre-deceased by his wife of 59 years, Edna Young Evans, his parents Norman and Frances Evans, parents’ in-law Leonard and Laura Young, brothers Art (Jean) Evans, Eric and brother-in-law John Knight.

He will be sadly missed by his children Brian Evans (Debbie), Gordon Evans (Caroline Aubin) and Linda Conway (Peter), his grandchildren Anthony, Justine and Emilie Evans, Alyssa and Rachel Conway, his sisters Norma Knight and Ruth MacFarlane (Peter), as well as many nieces and nephews.

Bob`s children especially want to thank Janice, Bob, Jack, Steve and Jim who came along side to help in a times of need.  We are beyond grateful for your support and compassion.  We also want to thank the phenomenal staff in the ICU at CHUS Fleurimont who provided excellent care for not only our father but also to our family during his hospital stay.

The family

Condolences to the family. What I remember most about Bob was that he was always ready to help. When our parents were looking after the farm, and getting older, Bob was always there to lend a hand. He didn’t say a lot, just showed up and did whatever needed doing. I will miss him greatly.
