Suddenly at his home in Stanstead, QC, on Thursday, August 23rd 2007, at the age of 87. Philip McLean Poaps, beloved husband of Peggy Broatch. Loving father of Vicki (Jack Drechsler) and Tom. Philip is survived by his brother Richard A. Poaps of Oakville, ON and by his sister-in-law Betty (late Donald A. Poaps) of Toronto and also by his nieces Margot, Susan and nephews David, William, Richard, John and Andrew. In respect of Philip's wishes, cremation was held. No visitation. A graveside service will be held at a later date. As memorial tributes, donations to the Frontier Animal Society, P.O.Box 2505, Stanstead, QC J0B 3E0 or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Quebec, 2630 King St. West, Office # 100, Sherbrooke, Quebec J1J 2H1, would gratefully be acknowledged by the family. Philip graduated from Queen's University in Kingston, ON and was the former owner of the J.B. Goodhue Co, in Rock Island and Bromptonville, QC. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was president of the Stanstead County Fish and Game Club. Philip was a Scout Master in Stanstead for many years and did extensive volunteer work with the Stanstead Historical Society, researching ancestral histories in the Eastern Townships.
