MANNING, Peter (1937 - 2015)

2015

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Manning (age 77). Peter had been managing well with a brain cancer diagnosis since May, 2014, until he passed at his home on January 5th. Peter was born in Montreal on February 25, 1937, and was brought up in Richmond, Quebec, the son of the late Dr. Clinton Edgar Manning and the late Rita Gertrude (née Butler) Manning. He graduated with his Bachelor of Arts degree and Diploma in Education from Bishops University, and received a Masters degree in Education from SUNY Plattsburgh. Peter touched many lives as a teacher and later in his career as a school administrator with the Lakeshore School Board. In his retirement he spent several gratifying years volunteering with the Hospitality Corner in the Montreal General Hospital. A man of many talents, from family man to golfer, wood-worker to house-builder, he will be missed by all his family and friends. He is survived by his wife Millie, after 52 years of marriage, his sons Andrew and Tony, his sister Elizabeth, his brother John, his sister-in law Catherine and his nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of the Montreal Neurological Institute and Hospital, as well as the staff at the Maison Herron, for his care during his illness. To celebrate Peter’s life, a visitation with the family is planned on the evening of Thursday, Jan 15th, 7 to 9 pm, at the Rideau Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home, 4275 boul. des Sources, Dollard des Ormeaux, H9B 2A6.
