EVANS, Maynard

1936 - 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maynard, surrounded by his daughters and their loved ones at the Teck Pioneer Residence on Saturday June 22, 2024, at the age of 88 years. Maynard grew up with a passion for mechanics to which he was very good at what he did. He began his mining career at Upper Beaver mine, but also spent some time working for Imperial Oil as a truck driver delivering fuel. Maynard couldn’t resist his love for mechanics and ultimately finished his working career as an underground mechanic at Macassa Mine. Maynard loved spending time at his cottage in Elk Lake with his wife Judy. They worked over the years
turning their cottage at the lake into their retirement home, this was their happy place.

Maynard is predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Judy, to whom he has been longing to reunite with, his parents Gardner and Annie Evans, his siblings; Elvin (Greta), Warner, Garnet (Marg), Hillary (Agnes), Iva (Mark), Velma (Melvin) and Dorothy (Gordon). Survived by his brother Alton Evans and his wife Vivian of Sudbury, also many nieces and nephews.

Forever remembered and deeply missed by his daughters Leigh Fraser (Brian) of Kenogami and Kathy Evans (Steve Fry) of King Kirkland, whom did their best making Maynard’s stay at the TPR as comfortable as possible. His son, Glen. Maynard’s grandchildren, B.J. Fraser (Marie-lyne Plouffe) of Kenogami, Dana Fraser (Charles Caouette) of Hearst, Christina Evans of Sudbury, Mackenzie Evans of Charlton, Taylor Evans of Kirkland Lake, Krysta Fry (Brian) of Gatineau and Corey Fry (Kelsey) of Kirkland Lake. His great grandchildren; Dominic, Kaydence, Evelyne, Liam, Corali, Ben Liam, Brianna, Luka and Elsa.

As per Maynard’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family graveside service will be at a later date for the burial of Maynard & Judy together. Our sincere thanks goes out to the
ICU, 4 th floor nurses, palliative care. We would also like to thank the staff at the TPR for helping Maynard feel like he was at home and kept him as comfortable as possible. Donations in Marynard’s memory can be made to Timiskaming Hospice Palliative Care (145 Government Rd
E, Suite 407, Kirkland Lake, ON, P2N 3P4).
