D’Amour, Marilyn Isabel
(nee Johnston)
It is with great sorrow that we announce the loss of our matriarch, Marilyn Isabel D’Amour, on August 28, 2020.
Born in Ottawa on October 15, 1934, to Dewey and Eva Johnston, Marilyn is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Charles, her cherished daughters, Catherine (Paulo), Claire (Raymond) and Monique (Scott), her beloved sons Robert (Karyn) and David (Maria), twelve grandchildren, and her younger brother Gordon (Margo). She is predeceased by her older brother Donald (Jeanine). She will be dearly missed by her sisters-in-law Madeleine, Denise, Monique, Paulette and Rachelle, and her many nieces and nephews.
While we mourn our loss, we also celebrate a full life, well lived. Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Sister-in-Law and life-long friend to many who knew her, Marilyn put the needs and wants of her family first, and her own, a distant second. She gave much and asked for little. Thanks for everything Mom, we miss you and love you, now and forever.
Our family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses at The Ottawa Hospital General Campus for the compassion and care Mom received in her final days. With your support, she died peacefully with her husband and children close in her heart.
In keeping with Marilyn’s wishes and COVID restrictions, there will be no visitation and the service will be private.
In memoriam donations can be made to The Ottawa Hospital Cancer Centre, or a charity of your choice.
