Margaret Helen LaCasse, née Hughes

She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on August 17, 2018 at the age of 77. Beloved wife of Yoland LaCasse for 53 years. Devoted and cherished mother of Eric (Heather Lochnan), Jacqueline (Pierre Caron), Christine (Gaston Gagnon) and Nadine (Craig Marsden). Doting and adored Nana of Nicholas, Danielle, Patrick, Tristan, Catherine, Christopher and Élie. Dear sister of Judy, Mary Spafford (Jack, deceased), Libby Stratton (Brooke), David, Don (Margaret) and the late Linda Neufeld (David). Caring aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. Daughter of the late Helen Laird Hamilton and the late Francis Norman Hughes. Stepdaughter of the late Lorna Felice Roberts. Margaret held a B.A. in English from U of T, Trinity College and a Teaching Degree. She taught English and Latin at Hillcrest and Sir Wilfrid Laurier high schools in Ottawa from 1963-1971, after which she devoted her life to caring for her family. She will be greatly missed.

Friends may call at the Coopérative funéraire de l'Outaouais, 95 Cité-des-Jeunes, Gatineau (Hull sector), on Friday, August 24, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Celebration of Life at Christ Church, 101 Symmes St., Gatineau (Aylmer sector), on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 11 a.m.

If desired, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Gatineau Health Foundation (Oncology Department) or to the SPCA of Western Quebec.
