MILLER, Louise

1944 - 2022

Miller, Louise - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Mary Virginia Louise Miller. Louise passed away peacefully, surrounded by her children, at the Sudbury Health Sciences Centre on Sunday, August 14th at the age of 77 years.

Louise was predeceased by her husband, Barry Miller. She will be truly missed by her children David (Barb), Kevin (Debbie) and Jill (Steve) as well as her grandchildren, Rylan, Soren, Kelton, Connor and Kyus. She loved being a grandmother and was always excited to share stories of their accomplishments.

Louise was born in Toronto on October 29th, 1944, to Joseph and Lucienne Laffin. She was the oldest of 6 and is survived by her siblings: John (Elaine), Peter (Laurianne), Fred (Caroline), Michael (Lucie) and Donna (Brent). She is also survived by her sisters in law Beth (Murray) and Edith (John). She was fortunate to have been blessed with a number of nieces and nephews and no doubt Aunt ‘Ouisey’ will always hold a special place in their hearts.

She will be fondly remembered as a kind, compassionate and caring person. As someone recently stated, ‘She was a special lady. She truly was a joy to be around!’ She loved knitting, playing scrabble and cards with family, listening to music and keeping the lost art of letter writing alive. She was an active member of the local fibromyalgia group and continued her involvement even after she moved away. She was happiest surrounded by family and friends and looked forward to family gatherings and reunions. Meeting the ‘Thornloe Ladies’ for lunch was a highlight of her month where she enjoyed catching up with good friends and sharing news of her family. After moving away for a couple of years she was extremely happy to finally move back to Northern Ontario being the true ‘Northern Girl’ she was.

The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the ICU staff at the Sudbury Health Sciences Centre for their exceptional care. A very special thank you to Dr. Cavanagh for giving us the gift of an ‘extra’ day with our mom.

Donations in Louise’s memory can be made to the charity of your choice. In keeping with mom’s spirit, ‘In a world where you can be anything, choose kind.’

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 27th. Family and friends are invited to join us at David’s for an afternoon ‘social’ to continue to celebrate mom’s life.
