René Rivard
Quand on vit en couple pendant 52 ans c’est une perte irremplaçable et tellement douloureuse. Mon cœur est tendu vers toi cher René.
It’s with sadness in our hearts that we announce the passing of Laurentin Lévesque at the age of 85. He was the life partner to René Rivard for over 52 years. He leaves in mourning his brother Oliva Lévesque (Francine), his sisters-in-law, Hélène (Roger), Armande (Ghislain) and Ginette (David) as well as several nieces and nephews (Marie-Josée, Yves, Serge, Nicole, Sylvie, Paul, Charles, Philippe, Robert, Éric and Julie; not to mention the many grand nieces and nephews.
Laurentin was an architect by trade. His career spanned many decades including Expo ’67, National Capital Commission and, finally, as a contract translator.
A polyglot, he could speak several languages (French, English, Italian, German, Russian and ASL). He was also learning how to speak Arabic, and Cree. Laurentin was the epitome of being a continuous learner.
His passion was music where we spent many delightful hours attending the opera in Toronto or the Glimmerglass Festival in Cooperstown, NY. He could also be found attending the Met presentations at the local theatre.
He lent his beautiful basso profundo to the Choeur classique de l’Outaouais as well as the Ottawa Gay Men’s Chorus for many years. He not only brought his voice to the choirs but helped with musical arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to Capital Rainbow Refuge [Donate | Capital Rainbow Refuge].
A celebration of life will take place Saturday, October 12th, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at Centre Pauline-Charron 164 Jeanne Mance Street , Ottawa.
