Beattie, Kingsley

BEATTIE, Kingsley

1932 - 2018

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of

Anthony Kingsley Beattie who died on October 1, 2018, at the age of 85.

Beloved husband of Micheline and the beloved son of the late Helen and Leonard and late brothers Richard and Edward. Loving father of Andrew and Laura with husband Jack Slawecki; his grandchildren Alexander and Nicholas Beattie and Samantha and Lukas Slawecki; and nephew Richard; as well as many dear friends.

Kingsley retired from a 34 year career as an Immigration Officer with the Government of Canada.

A polio survivor, Kingsley overcame many obstacles with compassion and empathy and always put the needs of others before his own.

Kingsley had an infectious curiosity about people and society and was a proud graduate of Carleton University where he studied history, Spanish,

philosophy and politics.

A Celebration of Life is planned for November 18 at the Britannia Yacht

Club from 3 to 6pm. A private burial will be held in Montreal this spring. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to the March of Dimes, which supports post-polio survivors.

Micheline and family

I was saddened to learn of Kingsley's passing and appreciated the call. I always enjoyed my time with Kingsley whether at breakfast with Brendan or at an event or lecture which would be of interest to us. He cared for his country and served it well. I appreciated his political wisdom and our discussions on many contentious subjects. It has been a long time since our days at St. Leo's and I'm so glad I hooked up with him in Ottawa. My sympathies to you and the family. Fondly, Brian

Micheline and Family

I worked with Kingsley at Immigration a very long time ago. I remember him as a very good story teller. Very nice man. My condolences to the family.
