LENART, Kenneth Joseph

1947 - 2023

It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Ken on Monday, November 27, 2023 at the Blanche River Health – Englehart Site.

Ken died peacefully after a short battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

Ken was an adored Husband, Father and Grandfather who was born in Englehart to Parents, Leo and Julia (Coulas) in 1947 and was raised on their family farm.

Ken loved being outdoors where he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and cutting firewood. Ken also enjoyed many hours spent fixing and modifying (MacGyvering) many things at this workshop on the farm. Some of his projects simply drove his son Mike crazy!

Ken was also famously known as “The Shit Show Supervisor” at the “Grumpy Old Man Coffee Club”. At 9:30am, vehicles started rolling in each morning and Ken had the coffee percolating and the kettle boiling for tea. This special group of guys solved many a world’s problems and were a great support group for each other.

In Ken’s younger years, while working at Adams Mine, he got his Millwright certification which led him to faraway places to work. One of his first travels was to British Guyana in South America where he worked as a Supervisor to local people at the Omai Gold Mine. After that, Ken travelled to Kyrgyzstan to work at the Kumtar Gold Mine, just north of China. There, Ken became involved in the Tien-Shan Children Relief Foundation Inc. raising money for children’s Cleft Palate surgery and gathering donations for Children’s Orphanages.

Ken is survived by his wife, Linda of 54 years, his Daughter Tracy (Tom Lynch), his Son Michael (Noreen Snively), and his Grandchildren, Mackenzie and Brendan Lynch who called him “Poppa Ken”.

Ken is also survived by his Sister Joan (Leo Loranger) and nieces. Brother-in-law to Ingrid (Chauncey Corley dec.), Irene (Eric Moore), George Nixon (Beth), Mark Nixon (Nancy) and their families.

As per Ken’s wishes, cremation has taken place.

A Celebration of Life will take place this summer at the Wendigo cottage.

Lenart Family

Very sorry to hear of your loss of Ken. My condolences.
When we were younger, Ken and I spent many hours making the cages for the chickens and then cleaning out from under the cages. Sometimes, I can still smell the very strong odor.
I last talked to Ken at the Englehart High School Reunion and shared some stories of our younger days.

Linda and Family Pat and I are very sorry for the loss of your husband and Father. We were very happy to meet Ken and Linda at their visits to Joan and Leo’s. Such a nice man who loved to joke and have a good laugh, and pick on his Sister Joan that he was the Baby.

So sorry to hear that Ken has passed away. As teenagers we were together every weekend. We had so many good times growing up. Worked with him at Adam’s. He always liked to have fun, always considered him as a good friend. Wish you and your family the best.

My deepest condolences to your family Michael. I have many fond memories of working with your Dad. He was a great millwright but most of all a true gentleman and loved by all who came into contact with him. We shared a lot of laughs.

We are so sorry for your loss. Ken was a great neighbour to our family for many years. He always loved to get a rise out of my mom (Odette)and spent lots of time with my dad ( Germain). Mom & Dad always thought of him as a son. We are all very saddened and he will be deeply missed.

Ken’s family, and Joan

To Linda and family, my deepest sympathy as you struggle with the loss of such an important person in your lives.
Joan, some of my best childhood memories are of spending time at your house with you, your wonderful parents, and your kid brother, Ken. Our mothers were cousins, and our parents were good friends. I’m so grateful for those days.
I moved away but would occasionally see Ken at family events in Englehart. He was delighted to tell me about Tracy and Michael.
Ken will be missed by many. Gone too soon.

Mary Ann (Yantha) Ruske, December 3, 2023

Linda, Tracy and Michael

My deepest sympathies to you all as well as your loved ones. Thank you Tracy for contacting me to let me know. I appreciate it so much. I have so many fond memories of times spent on the farm, mopedding and ski-dooing. Big Ken the Pollock as my Dad always called him. After we moved away, Ken’s name came up several times throughout the years. Dad would always brag about the size of his hands to the farmers around here (chuckle). He would say to his buddies over here that he would never want to mess around with Big Ken! AND let’s not forget the way Ken would tease my mom and dad for being Montreal Canadian fans. I remember when the Canadiens won the Stanley cup in the 80’s when it was Patrick Roy the goaltender. Dad just had to call Ken to tease him that his Leafs were not so hot! lol. I still to this day think of Ken when we on occasion watch the HABS play. I feel honoured and privileged that he was once a part of my childhood. Ken, continue to do great things up in heaven. May you rest in peace. With love, Lise Paris
