With great sorrow, the family announces the death of Jury Howerow at the Extendicare Kirkland Lake on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at the age of 88 years. He was born February 2, 1924 in Ukraine and immigrated to Canada, finally settling in Kirkland Lake in 1951. Jury worked as a miner at the Lakeshore mine and retired from Kirkland & District Hospital as an engineer in the maintenance department. Jury is survived by his wife of 69 years Maria (Kara-Karpenko) Howerow; his daughters Louisa (Jean Yves Dupraz) of London, Natalie Nobes of London, his son Egor of Guelph; his grandsons Francois Dupraz of Montreal, Christopher Nobes of London and his granddaughter Isabelle Dupraz of Scotland. Mr. Howerow was predeceased by his son Oleg and his father Paulo Howerow. The family would like to thank the third floor staff of Extendicare for their outstanding care. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Richard Denton, Glen and Patricia French of French Family Funeral Home. A special thank you to Nikki Smith and all the care givers. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held in the spring of 2013.Offer Condolence for the family of Jury Howerow
