ROZICH, John

1939 - 2024

It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and Friend John Peter Rozich after a brief illness on Thursday February 29, 2024, at the age of 84.

John was predeceased by his wife Helen (nee Wilson), his parents John and Anna Rozic, his brother Joe Rozich (d. Mary), Sister Vera Rozich, Brother-in-Laws Joe Wilson (d. Trudy), Leonard Wilson (Collette), Garnet Wilson (Jan), Gary Wilson, Earl Wilson, and Gord Wilson (Tammy), Sister-in-Laws Margaret Bolduc (Don), Ruth Lindsay (d. Gord), Irene Seddon (d. Keith). John is survived by his children Patti Rozich (Steve Benoit), Mike Rozich (Bonnie). Grandchildren Linden Bellenie (Dave Brown), Dustin Souriol (Allie), Mikey Souriol (Darian Guimond) and Kiara Phippen. Great Grandchildren Mattias, Connor and Charli. John is also survived by his brother Emo Rozich (Mary) and brother-in-Law Brian Wilson (Sybil). Also left to mourn John are several nieces and nephews.

John was born and raised in Kirkland Lake and worked at Weston’s Bakery as Production Superintendent from 1963 to 1990 when the plant closed. After a few years off John found seasonal employment at the Town of Kirkland Lake working at the KL Cemetery until he retired. John moved his Family from Prince Street to the end of Main Street in 1975 to a piece of land that would later be known as “Rose Villa”. John spent many hours working on his property which can now be seen in its beauty! During Spring, Summer & Fall you could always find John either tending his bountiful vegetable garden or riding around on his tractor maintaining his beautiful property! John was always up to date with the latest technology. We are so grateful for the many hours Dad spent taking videos and photos!

John was known to many of Dustin and Mikey’s Friends as Papa John “PJ”! PJ was always willing to offer guidance and advice to all! In John’s younger years he enjoyed playing many sports including broomball, baseball, football and of course hockey! John was a genuine Toronto Maple Leaf Fan!!

In keeping with John’s wishes cremation has taken place. A private family celebration of John’s well-lived life will take place at a later date.

They simply mean I’ll miss you

I am saddened to hear of the loss of your Dad. Haven't seen him in many years, but have memories at your home on Prince St and also when you all moved to the end of Main Street. We just had more running to do to be together as kiddies. Heartfelt condolences sent your way, and many memories are filling my head. I loved your place as kids, your gramma rozich; the hair, never seen hair that long when she took her bun out-amazing, the baking your mom did for us, and the creek adventures! So much fun! Please know I share your grief! Take care!

Wendy and I were sad to hear of Johnny’s passing. Both he and Helen were so much a part of our lives growing up in Kirkland Lake. When visiting Kirkland over the years we always looked forward to a visit with Helen and Johnny. So glad we were able to connect with him last September. Thinking of all of you and hope all your great memories with help during this difficult time. Wendy and Cindy Fleming.
