COULOMBE, Jean-François
1969 - 2023
Until August 27, Jean-François Coulombe's family and friends had the chance to rub shoulders with this magnificent man whose history is larger than life. His joie de vivre is still contagious. Everyone who crossed his path was touched by his generosity.
Adopted son of the late Jean.Claude Coulombe (CPL JJJC Coulombe, CTRC), son of André Perrin and Liliane Thibault, brother of the late Jacques Coulombe and Céline Coulombe, he remains alive in the hearts of his beloved children Nadine Coulombe, François-Xavier Lauriault, Laurie Chouinard and Samuel Chouinard. He also remains vibrant in the hearts of his loved grandson Nathan Coulombe-Fortin and his accomplice spouse Marie Chantal Picard. He remains present on in the hearts of his brothers in arms and friends around the world.
As a musician, he is able to create magic simply by playing his guitar. He is survived by the entire world of heavy-metal music, as well as progressive rock music, which will miss his assiduous flamboyant presence. He is also survived by the fan clubs of Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden, Arjen Lucassen, Dream Theater and the late Normand Cournoyer (known as Normand L'Amour).
CPL JFMV Coulombe has served his country for nearly 17 years. Veteran, especially former peacekeeper in the former Yugoslavia, he is highly respected and appreciated by his brothers in arms for whom he was totally dedicated. He has also volunteered extensively for the cause of Veterans Affairs. He first joined the Canadian Armed Forces as a field gunner when he was transferred to Germany (1 RCHA 1986-1991). Subsequently, he joined the Transmission Operator Corps (CTRC 1991-2003). Jean-François is proud to have completed his French commando course during his stay in Germany.
Respected in several Government of Canada agencies for which he later worked, and more recently at Library and Archives Canada, his colleagues have nothing but praise for him.
He is also known in Outaouais for his volunteer involvement in several activities, especially for the time he gave for several years as a coach in the Gatineau Amateur Baseball Association.
He has also been volunteering for several years to train medical service dogs for more than one organization. Since graduating as a dog trainer, he has also been involved more recently, and as a volunteer, for Todd Canin, an organization he set up with his wife Marie Chantal to help both the cause of veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder and the cause of autistic adults.
