It is with great sadness that the Roy family announces the passing away of Jacqueline Holtman Roy of Gatineau formerly from Kirkland Lake, Rouyn-Noranda and Cadillac on Wednesday April 3rd, 2019 at the age of 81. Jacqueline is the beloved wife of the late Raymond Roy for 56 years, loving mother of Daniel, Diane (Harvey), Marc, Lorraine (Seguin), Yves, Beverly (Novak) and Nathalie (deceased). She leaves behind her special grandchildren Nathaniel, Martin, Olivia and Michelle. She was predeceased by her parents Gustave Holtman and Alda Maurice and by her brother Robert. She is survived by her sister-laws Laurette Franche and Diane Roy and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Born in Timmins, raised in Cadillac, she started her family in Rouyn-Noranda and raised her family in Kirkland Lake. She and Raymond retired in Val-des-Monts in 1994 and eventually moved to Gatineau in 2011.
She was the owner of the Northland Travel Agency in Kirkland Lake and this gave Jackie and Raymond the opportunity to travel the world. She was actively involved in the Girl Guides, was a great curler and enjoyed skiing, especially with her grandchildren. She loved her family cottage in Chapais, Quebec where she truly enjoyed her sunsets, cooking, reading and completing jigsaw puzzles. During her retirement she was a member of the “Club Richelieu” where she occupied a variety of roles.
Thank you to the staff at the Cite Jardins which provided her the activities and services to enjoy her retirement once Raymond passed away. A special thanks to the staff of CHSLD Bon Sejour where she lived out the last few weeks of her life. It made her passing more peacefully.
The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Muriel Gratton for her help and friendship which enabled our mother to live out her life with dignity and enjoyment.
There will be a visitation at the Coopérative funéraire de l’Outaouais (1369, La Vérendrye West blvd. in Gatineau) on Friday May 10th from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a mass at the St-François-de-Sales Church (799, Jacques-Cartier street in Gatineau) on Saturday May 11 at 11 a.m. with a reception following.
Memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated.
