Ian Macdonald Crawford born in Inverness on 11 June 1939 to Bernice MacDonald and Godfrey Crawford who both predecease him. He had one brother, Ross Crawford who also predeceases him. He died at the age of 83 on 31 March 2023 at Magog Hospital. He had various jobs throughout his life, including service in the Royal Canadian Air Force, Space Research Company, and Butterfields in Stanstead.
His first marriage to Louise Atkin produced 4 wonderful children, Donna (Murray), Catherine (Tim), Lorne (Debbie) and David (who predeceases him).
He and his second wife Doris Boomhower (who predeceases him), produced 2 lovely daughters Penny (Brad) and Anne (Shawn deceased).
He was blessed with many grandchildren, Krista, Jessica, Erica, Ryan, Leah, Cassie, Christopher, Julia, Zach, Sydney, Stephanie, Kendra, and his great-grandchildren Logan, Liam, Felix, Lydia, Emily, Theo, Eleanor and Aederic.
He moved to Fitch Bay as a young boy, where during his early years he met his first great love, playing the guitar. He would travel over the mountain on horse back with his guitar to Christie Mosher’s place for lessons. He enjoyed travelling and reading, but Ian is best remembered for playing music at the local bars with friends and fellow musicians. He could be counted on to entertain others at any opportunity by picking up his guitar to “have a tune”. When not travelling or entertaining friends and family with his music, he could often be found in Fitch Bay at the log cabin, cutting firewood, and spreading “natural light” throughout the property.
There will be a celebration of his life on Saturday April 8th from 1pm to 5pm at the Stanstead Legion. All who knew him are welcome. A private burial ceremony will be held at a later date.
