Brigitte
I just read your mom's obituary in the Bancroft Times. I am so sorry for your loss.
Her loving family announces the passing of Hélène Dodd due to brain cancer on September 25, 2019
Born Hélène Lucienne Parisien on January 26, 1948 Helene was – first and foremost – a grandmother, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, cousin and friend. Her career as a teacher touched the lives of her many students, whether they were English speaking, French speaking, bilingual or following her French immersion teaching. She was an avid reader and nature enthusiast. But her values put family and relationships above all else.
Hélène is survived by her children Christine Seppala (nee Dodd) and her husband Eric Andrew Seppala, Brigitte Dodd and her life partner Lisa Boese, and her two grandchildren William and Norah Seppala along with her mother Thérèse Parisien, sister Gisèle, her brother Claude and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is also survived by friendships and by causes that she put her time, resources and energy into that are too numerous to count.
We would like to thank the staff and volunteers at La Maison Des Collines in Wakefield, Quebec for their dedication, expertise, work and incredible care for Hélène during her illness.
We will miss Hélène beyond measure. We are hopeful that she now goes to join her father, Rolland Parisien, and her brother Gilles, who predeceased her, and take solace in the knowledge that her spirit lives on within us and that her energy, so abruptly called away from us, was urgently needed elsewhere in the universe.
A private celebration of life is planned at LA COOPÉRATIVE FUNÉRAIRE DE L'OUTAOUAIS, 95 Cité des Jeunes Boulevard in Gatineau (Hull sector) on Monday, October 14 from noon to 3 pm for family and friends. We also welcome everyone to post memories and thoughts via the COOPÉRATIVE FUNÉRAIRE DE L’OUTAOUAIS’ website www.cfo.coop and ask that you consider making a donation to La Maison Des Collines or Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) in honour of Hélène.
