Mes sympathies Gilles à toi et ta famille
It is with deepest sympathies we announce the passing of
Hélène Hammond (nee D'Aoust)
Passed away on March 13, 2019, at the age of 89. Predeceased by her parents, Aurel D’Aoust and Fleurette Charbonneau, brother Yvon D’Aoust (Kathleen Flaherty) and sister Cecile D’Aoust.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband, friend Robert (Bob) Hammond, her children, Lynne and Gilles (Jocelyne Hamel) and her beloved grandsons, Stephan, Alexandre and Jeremie.
She will be sorely missed by her sisters, Irene (Jack MacNaught), Marie (Phil Longtin) and Francoise, as well as many nieces and nephews; brothers and sisters in law.
Helen was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who thought of others and helped many with her generous personality.
She brightened everyone’s day with her contagious smile.
Her three grandsons were the apples of her eye and she loved them more than life itself.
Helen’s love for the outdoors was filled with activities, such as skiing, skating and gardening. As well as her passion for painting and of course her many travels.
Since their wedding day, 66 years ago , the house was always filled with family, friends and laughter, from their first home on Raymond St, to Hilltop, to the Hobby farm and their home in Ottawa, the visits were often and continuous.
The cottage on Lac Campion was her favourite getaway. She loved spending time swimming, walking and having her grandsons with her to share this special place.
Helene was also involved with the VON (Victorian Order of Nurses) in Gatineau in the 60’s and 70’s.
In 1979 Helene and Bob set off on a journey and created PSP Ltd, the family business. Which became very successful due to their hard work and determination.
Helene passed on her strength, courage and love of life to her family.
She taught us respect, responsibility, family values, to love and help everyone.
Helen has left us such an amazing legacy, which will live on in her grandchildren. She will be lovingly remembered by all.
Many thanks to the wonderful Doctors and Nursing staff of the Gatineau Hospital, 6th floor Intensive Care Unit for their compassion, exceptional care and dignity shown to Helene.
