LEHIS, Harold

2021

Harold Lehis passed away peacefuly, just one day after being admitted to Kirkland & District Hospital. Born in Koigi, Estonia to Maria and Kristjan Markus, on Sept. 27, 1927, Harold journeyed to Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1948 and on to Kirkland Lake to work as a miner. He was a resident of KL until his passing on January 17, 2021.Harold was a faithful member of the Finnish Ev. Lutheran Church until its closing. He was very proud of his cottage and sauna on Lake Sesekinika, and in his youth, many summers were spent there with his wife Angela, entertaining Estonian friends and family.Harold lived his life his way;  fiercely independent,  he took great pride in shopping and cooking for himself, into his 93rd year.A warm thank-you to Shannon, Tasha, Tammy, the VON’S  and PSW’s for contributing to Harold’s ability to stay at home; a special shout out to Glenn Scott. A family friend for decades, he will be missed by Tiina.Interment will take place in the spring, at the Kirkland cemetery. He will rest beside his late wife, Angela.Offer Condolence for the family of Harold Lehis
