1946 - 2019

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of

Gérard (Gerry) Brisson

 

He passed away on May 22, 2019, at the age of 72. He leaves behind his two daughters : Lucie (Dave Hunter) and Josée (Jonathan Brunet); his grandchildren : Francis, Jesse, Nicolas, Sophie, Liam and Cade. He also leaves behind his companion Marie-Claire Debonville; his brothers : Albert, Léo (Françoise) and Reynald (Chantal); his sister-in-law Jacqueline as well as many nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his parents : Lionel and Yvonne as well as his brothers : Maurice and Jacques (Ginette). 

 

As per his wishes, there will be a celebration of life. His family would like to invite you to join them on Thursday, July 18, 2019 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Le Chateau, 100 du Chateau, Gatineau (secteur Hull).

 

For those who wish to do so, donations to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation would be appreciated.

 

We wish to thank Dr Marie-Hélène Dufresne Beauchamp and Dr Aubé for the excellent care and for their support.

Lucie and family an Josée and family (daughters of Gerry Brisson)

Lucie and Josée, I have known your father for many years starting at CBC. Years later, when I started to work at the Canadian Museum of History, I asked him to join my HR team. We both retired from the Museum in March 2015. Gerry was a wonderful person, kind, generous with his time, dedicated, hard working, and he always had such a nice smile and welcoming approach. He was appreciated and well liked both at CBC and the Museum.

Regrettably, I will not be able to attend the Celebration of Life for Gerry, as I will be in Toronto the week of July 15 with my children and granddaughter. He will be in my thoughts on July 18.

Please accept my deepest condolences. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your families at this difficult time.

I am so sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. When I started working at CBC many, many years ago, he became a good friend and remained a friend after he left CBC. He often talked about how proud he was of you two and years later he'd brag about his wonderful grandchildren. He was above all a lovely and caring person.
