KEMSHALL, Geraldine "Gerri"
1936 - 2023
It is with great sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Geraldine Kemshall (nee Clarke) on July 22, 2023 at the Timmins and District Hospital in her 87th year. Gerri was a ray of sunshine, always kind, helpful and positive. She will be dearly missed.
For many years, she operated the Textile Center and also was employed in the purchasing department of the Kirkland and District Hospital. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, and volunteered with the Kirkland and District Hospital Auxiliary. She was always happy to lend a hand, provide some baking or to brighten someone's day.
Gerri was predeceased by her parents, Eric and Iolean (Cahill ) Clarke as well as by her beloved brothers Bob and Ronnie Clarke.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Richard Kemshall and by her loving daughter Kimberley Harvey (Norm).
She also leaves behind two dearly loved grandsons: Joshua Harvey (Mariana) and Jonathan Harvey (Sarah) and her great-grandchildren Madeline, Charlotte and Olivia, her sister-in-law Vivien Clarke, as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition, she had many lifelong friendships which she cherished throughout her life.
In keeping with Gerri's wishes, a private family celebration of life will take place at a later date.
Donations in memory of Gerri to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Blanche River Health Hospital (Kirkland Lake site) are appreciated.

Gerri and I were sorority sisters for many years, and yes she was a 'ray of sunshine!' You could always count on Gerri to be there helping in any way she could. Rest in Peace, Gerri .

I know Gerri will be up there with Kevin both kidding each other who is the oldest, Gerri was my best friend since I was sixteen and yes Stella, I do miss her dearly, she was a wonderful friend , we were a foursome couple for many years . Gerri was a good mentor to many . She touched the hearts of so many people .

I was so sorry to hear of Gerri's sudden passing. I knew Gerri in our teenage years and enjoyed seeing her at work at the Textile Center. In our later years we saw each other at Holy Name Church and always there in the same spot when attending Mass. I will miss seeing her there but will offer a prayer for the repose of her soul. Please accept our sincere condolences at the loss of your beloved mom, wife, and grandmother. We have so many wonderful memories of Gerri. Our time together was always filled with laughter and giggles. Writing this I am reminded of driving to Butler Lake in the back seat of the station wagon singing along to a Karen Carpenter cassette tape; visiting Gerri at the Textile Center (I admired Gerri’s entrepreneurship, as a woman ahead of her time); and I was always impressed with her attention to detail and skill as a host to many events.
We will miss Gerri’s sense of humour and caring nature. May each memory of Gerri feel like a small patch of sunlight, warming your days, soothing your heart, giving you hope and peace.

Gerri was part of my life for as long as I can remember. She and my mom Dorothy Janes were so close as friends and worked together at the Textile Centre.
The laughter they shared and the love spilled over to both families and friends. I loved Gerri and, although she was not in my life anymore, I think of her often. As a matter of fact, we were just talking about her white living room last week. Gerri said to relax. It was white because that's what Gerri liked. I promptly spilled red wine on her rug and true to Gerri's humour, she laughed it off and we cleaned it up.
You'll be missed Gerri.

I just heard of Gerri’s passing from my uncle Ivan. Geraldine never missed phoning my mom every year on her birthday. I had the opportunity to visit Geraldine, Richard and Kim and was nice to see my mom Joanne rekindling so many fond memories with Geraldine.
