Haskins, Frances

HASKINS, Frances

1949 - 2023

Family and friends are saddened to announce the untimely passing of our beloved “Francy”, January 4, 2023.

Born in Kirkland Lake to parents William Edward and Lorna Grace Haskins (nee Grant). Fran is survived by her siblings Sue, Penny, and Terry, as well as many nieces and nephews. Fran is also survived by her partner in song, love, and laughter, Ty Savela.

The unique, eccentric and exquisite Fran will be sadly missed at her favourite place, the Encore Club in Kirkland Lake, where she would love to socialize, sing karaoke, and dance every Saturday night. Fran was a lover of music, glamour, fashion, and stood out among the crowd with her flamboyant and high fashion clothes. Fran was also a lover of all God’s creatures great and small with many animal rescues to her credit over her lifetime. She would love to sit for hours at her Nettie Lake camp watching the animals and birds play and sing.

Donations to the Advocates for Northern Animals would be appreciated.

In keeping with Fran’s wishes, cremation has taken place.

Keep singing Francy, know that you were loved and admired.

Until we meet again.

Fran certainly was one of a kind, in her choice of clothing, karaoke songs etc. She was so sweet and sincere in her conversations with people.

I am still in shock over the passing of our dear friend Fran. I have known Fran since High School. We had become great friends over the years. I am content to know she is now an angel in God's House. I would like to extend my deepest condolences to her family and friends at this very sad and difficult time. I would also like to thank her friend Dan Raimondo for all the love and care he had given her in the last months and days of her life. You were a true friend Dan. Thank you for looking after our Franny! May She Rest in Peace!

My Deepest Condolences to all of you. I will miss seeing her at the Encore Club .... another Smiling Face that is no longer with us. She loved to Sing and Dance every Saturday night and dressed in her fine attire all the time.
I will miss chatting with her while we shared words in the Finnish Language....we laughed a lot at our attempts.
May she Rest in Peace!

Sue, Penny, Terry, & Ty Savela, I am so sorry for your loss. Heartfelt condolences to you & your families. I was a very good friend of Fran's ( she always called me her best friend ) & often came in for a nice visit & chat. We also spent a lot of time on the phone, I sure miss our long conversations. I was going to teach her to waltz, polka & the two step. We had great plans for our future visits. She always said I made her happy when we talked. Gone far too soon. May she Rest in Peace.

I have such fond memories of Frances. She worked at the Department of Mines in Kirkland Lake for a very long time. I spent a lot of time there because of my occupation in the Mining Industry. She was always ready to help and I remember her big smile. . My deepest condolences to the Haskin's Family.

Ty & Fran’s Family

Ty, you were one of my absolute favourite instructors when I went to Northern. Later it was sweet to see you & Fran out & about for breakfast and such at Franny’s Restaurant. You both always stopped to talk with myself, my little son & my late Dad. May the good memories & great times keep you, dear Haskins family. Ty, I’m truly sorry for your loss & words are just words. My heart is hugging yours. Take care.
