MILLS (NÉE FOX), Evelyn Lena
1942 - 2023
Evelyn was born to Eunice Jane (Fox, Brake) Bolger (Néé Montgomery) and Jim Fox in New Liskeard.
After a brief battle with an acute respiratory illness at the Temiskaming Hospital, Evelyn succumbed to her symptoms.
Evelyn spent much of her time reading and doing puzzles. She enjoyed the company of her PSWs, Megan Hastings (Connelly), Tammy Peddie, and Shauna White, who supported her daily. She was very fond of her honorary great-granddaughter, Alexis and her great-grandson, Clark, with whom she spent much time. She enjoyed spending time with her good friend, Gertrude Allaire.
For nearly 3 years, after her husband's passing, she moved in and resided with her son, Sheldon and daughter-in-law, Rollie. Losing her independence brought about challenges for her and them, but they persevered. They were able to spend her final hours together in the Beverly-Ann Boros Palliative Care Suite in the hospital. Many thanks to the staff at the Temiskaming Hospital and Dr. Ryan Sayer for the excellent quality of care for Evelyn and her family.
She married Vern Wright in 1961 and John Mills in 1992. She was predeceased by her father in 1980, her first stepfather (William (Bill) Brake) 1993, her mother and stepfather (William A. (Joe) Bolger) in 2016, her ex-husband, Vern Wright in 2010, 2nd husband John Mills in 2020, sister and brother-in-law Mary (Fox) in 2015 and Daniel Gwinn in 2010, sister-in-law Cathy (Kirky) Fox in 2022. Her niece Jennifer Gilmour (Néé McCreadie) 2023.
She is survived by her brother Jim Fox, sister Nancy (Ben) Gilmour and children Wesley (Kerry) Wright and Sheldon (Rollie Allaire) Wright.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tori and (Daniel) Lemaire (Néé Wright), Jonathon Wright, Michael Aitchison, and Kasey Aitchison (Brooklyn Livingston-Taylor). Her great-grandchildren Alexis St-Don (Sopha) and Clark Aitchison-Taylor. Her nieces and nephews Wanada Gwinn, Darwin Gwinn, Luke (Cheryl) Gilmour, Sarah (Tim) Coombs, Jeremy Gilmour, and Timothy (Amy) Gilmour. And many great nieces and nephews.
Interment will take place at Valleyview cemetery in New Liskeard, Ontario, on her birthday, June 24, 2024, at 2:00 pm with a light luncheon afterwards with the family.
In memory of Evelyn, donations to the local Food Banks earmarked for Seniors would be appreciated by her family.
