Eileen Coghlan
1956 - 2018
It is with deep sadness that we announce her passing on September 7, 2018 at the age of 62, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She leaves behind her beloved spouse Gaétan Bernard and their dog Duke. She also leaves her brothers and sisters: Wally (Penny), Cathy (Ken), Buffy (Don), Neil (Diane), Margaret (Lee), Mary, Gerry (Jo-Ann), Richard (Sandy), Helen (Gerard) and Sharon (Gilles); her sisters-in-law France, Jeanne D'arc, Estelle and their children. She was a loving aunt to 29 nephews and nieces and 17 great-nephews and great-nieces. She will be sadly missed by many relatives and friends.
The celebration of prayers will be held at the COOPÉRATIVE FUNÉRAIRE DE L'OUTAOUAIS, at 95 Cité-des-Jeunes Blvd, in Gatineau (Hull sector), on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at 10 am. The family will receive condolences as of 9:30 am.
Eileen had a generous heart, was caring and sympathetic, her family always came first.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of La maison Mathieu Froment Savoie for the excellent care provided and their support until her very last breath.

I know Eileen fought long and hard and often checked on how she was doing, even though she has left us, we will cherish all the memories and that smile of hers, I have great memories of going over to Hull after Sunday mass and spending the afternoon with you all, take care love you all

I went to school with Mary and Margaret, Eileen was in my brother's class.
I remember the smiles and kindness they all were blessed with.
Eileen and I were coworkers. She was on leave when I retired but she was always in my prayers and thoughts. I was so sad to hear of her passing.
She will be truly missed.

I also have fond memories of visiting the Coghlan's in Hull while growing up. We felt welcome and had loads of fun. I got to know Eileen better in the 70's when we were both living in Vancouver. Eileen was outgoing and lit up the room when she was there. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.

Her laugh was so authentic and so genuin that I still remember now. Her great contribution at work, her smile, her kindness and her generous heart will be truly missed.

I have a lovely memory and picture of Eileen at what I believe was my 7th birthday party. Her picture today is the same smiling face that I remember. The world is a diminished place now that Eileen is no longer in it--she had such an amazing spirit that was so apparent to anyone who had the good fortune to meet her and get to know her. I am so very sorry for your loss--my love and my thoughts go out to you all.

I was lucky enough to have a great friend in Eileen and we had a few things in common. One we loved and adopted rescues and our pets were our life. We both spent our last dime on them. Our dogs had allergies and we were always comparing meds, foods and tips.
Second of all, we did not have any of our own children. Eillen, I was telling Sharon this week that the last time I saw you I wanted to share important info with you.
I did not have the honor in telling you the last time I saw you as it was more important to me, asking and knowing how you were doing and how the fight was going.
I was hoping to tell you today before you left for heaven but again I did not get the chance. You had so many, many, many, people wanting to see you earn your wings that I wasn't going to take that away from you. It was heartwarming to see that you had so many people that loved you. I was not surprised to see.
Eillen I was honored when you told me that you were sharing your tragic news with only your friends. That day you touched part of my heart in a way that not to many touched. I not only cried when you shared your devasting news but here you were again being the strong one for me as you hugged me. Im am truly going to miss you buddy. Going to miss hearing you laugh and talking about Gaetan, Ben and Duke.
As my mom would say "it's never to late to tell someone something" so I wanted to tell you that one of my dreams that we talked about many times finally came true.
I am honored to tell you that " I'm a mommy". I adopted a 3 year old little girl named Hope. Like both if us she loves dogs. Everytime she sees one, she has to go and say hello and pet it.
I hope you visit me often in my dreams Eileen. I pray that you bring Celine with you. I got to share my intent of adoption with her before she earned her wings.

My condolences on your loss. I worked with Eileen for many years and always felt that she was a brilliant light in our workplace. Her laugh was contagious and never failed to make me feel better when I heard it. She will be missed.
It was with sadness that I recently learned of Eileen passing. So sorry for your loss. I worked with Eileen at HC and enjoyed many break times with her. Such a smart and engaged human. The conversations were always lively. She will be missed.
