Doug passed away peacefully after a short illness in Sherbrooke, P.Q, at age 93 on July 4th, 2021.
Preceded in death by his wife Margaret. Loving father to Sherry and Bruce. Dear friend and companion of Barbara. Proud Grandfather to Sabrina (Keith), Kristina (Maury), Scott (Tanya), Shawn, Jordan (Phids), T-J. Great-Grandpa to Eden, Ezra, Elias, Anna, Maverick, Logan.
Brother of the late Louise (Turpin) and the late Anne (Sowerby). He is survived by many other relatives and many friends.
Doug lived every day to the fullest; he will leave a huge mark in this world. He was a devoted husband, an amazing Dad, a loving Grandpa.
He will leave a lasting legacy of kindness and compassion. A Bishops graduate and long devoted career in Pulp and Paper Industry. He enjoyed many years of golfing, curling, cross-country skiing, playing bridge and traveling with Margaret. He volunteered for many causes such as Meals on Wheels and Community Aide. He loved his summers with family and friends at his cottage on Lake Massawippi.
Doug had the biggest heart; he was kind and giving and had a passion for people. He had an infectious smile, listened, encouraged people of all ages, and gave the best hugs. He was always positive, ready for a new adventure. A true gentleman, our hero.
He brought a light so great to the world, that his light will forever remain. ~Rest easy~
The family would like to thank the caring staff in the ICU at CHUS Fleurimont Hospital. Also many thanks and gratitude to all the staff and many friends at Manoir St. Francis in Lennoxville, where Doug resided.
There will be a celebration of his life at a later date.
