GUILMAIN, Deborah

1957 - 2025

Deborah (Debbie) Lynn Guilmain, aged 67, passed away peacefully on 19 March 2025 in Ottawa, Ontario, after a courageous and lengthy battle with cancer.

She was born on 25 May 1957, to Jean Elisabeth Russell (née Sly) and John Edgar Russell, in Shawville, Quebec.

After graduating high school, Debbie worked in finance until retiring from her position as a branch office administrator at Edward Jones in 2020. Upon retirement she moved to the east coast where she spent quiet years on the South Shore of Nova Scotia in Liverpool.

Debbie married André Guilmain on 23 August 1980, and they had two children, Nicole and Renée.

Debbie's hobbies included building puzzles, playing cards and board games, doing various arts and crafts, and, above all, an enthusiasm for cooking.

Debbie is survived by her mother Jean (Jim), daughters Nicole (Stephen) and Renée (Jonathan), her granddaughter Aimée, her sister Linda (Ron), her brother Grant (Joanne), and numerous beloved nieces and nephews; Jonathan, Lucas (Kendra), Kelsi (Everett), Alicia (Justin), Liam, Christina, and Evan. She was predeceased by her sister Rhonda, brother James, father Edgar, and husband André.

The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at both the Ottawa Hospital Cancer Centre, and Bruyère Palliative Care at St. Vincent Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at Bristol Memorial Presbyterian Church (40 Chemin de Bristol, Bristol QC) at 2:30pm on 4 May 2025.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Ottawa Hospital Cancer Centre, or the Bruyère Palliative Care at St. Vincent Hospital.
