GIRARD, Cathy

1960 - 2024

It was a blast!

Cathy Ann Girard passed away on February 18, 2024. She was the wife of Michel Girard, the mother of Jennifer and Matthew Girard. Predeceased by her mother Rosita St. Amand (Weaving), her father Benoit St. Amand. Also predeceased by her brothers Jack, Claude and Ben. She was the sister of Yvonne Rozon (husband Joe Rozon), Carole Roy (husband John Roy) and Sue Birch (husband Reg Birch). She was the sister-in-law of Ralph Girard (wife Liette Girard), Linda Girard-Cozac (wife of Cal Cozac) and Angel Girard-Forget (husband Dan Forget). She was also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was blessed with many goddaughters and godsons. Cathy took care of everyone she loved. She even adopted people into the family.

Whether you were family or not, you knew you belonged in the family. Marie-Eve Laniel and the Learns (Josh, Molly and Ada) were blessed by her kindness, compassion and love which was returned in fold. Death was never a fear. She even took the time to prepare special gift boxes for those that meant the most to her. She requested all her favorite meals and got many laughs out of her last visits. She never stopped talking about steak night (her taste buds were back!). Enjoyed “date night” with her children, adopted child Marie-Eve and her husband Michel, one evening each; teasing her sisters (so much teasing! She loved it!). She was a stubborn woman to the very end, but the memories we’ll cherish the most are how much she did for us. Until the very end she worried and thought about ensuring her family would be okay and set for when she was no longer with us (including collaboration of her own obituary!). She even went over taxes and bills with dad!

Michel remembers meeting Cathy for the first time in the entrance of ESCHS and shortly after their first date he bought her a watch for Christmas. Cathy wanted to give it back, stating she did not want to get serious. That was over 50 years ago, and on June 28 th would have been 44 years of being happily married.

When life gets you all worked up, “Let it go.” There’s only so many !@#$ to give and they’re precious. Remember the little things in life. Don’t waste them, don’t lose them.

As per Cathy’s wishes, there will be no funeral and cremation has taken place. Messages and condolences may be left for the family at www.tricitycremations.com
