The Family
We extend our deepest sympathy to Burleighs family and friends. The many wonderful memories you all cherish will keep her close by in your hearts.
Passed away peacefully in Sherbrooke on March 20,2023, Burleigh was the daughter of the late Richard Anderson and the late Florence Nadeau, she was the dear wife of the late James R. Jones for 67 years.
Burleigh was born on June 14,1932 in Harrington Harbour, Quebec and lived half of her life there. She was an ever-present companion to her husband Jim, a Lighthouse Keeper, on Cape Whittle, Quebec. She aided him with the Canadian National Weather Service. She was primarily a dedicated wife and mother. She relished journaling for decades. She enjoyed reading and knitting with a specialty of slipper socks and mittens over the years. She enjoyed visiting family and family gatherings. She made stupendous sticky buns and wonderful fried fresh fish. She was known to have caught her share of fresh cod herself as her father was a fisherman. She had a quiet presence but could make her wishes and feeling known with a look which her family knew well. She and Jim spent their retirement years in Sherbrooke to be closer to their immediate family. She enjoyed some travel visiting family in Massachusetts, Florida, Edmonton, Alberta and the Maritime Provinces. The past few years were spent at the Grace Village Retirement and Assisted Living in Sherbrooke. We will miss our matriarch.
She raised three children, Helen (Dave) Stewart of Franklin, Massachusetts, Norma (Marc-Andre) Gosselin of Magog, Quebec, and Neil and Wendy (Dustin) Jones of Ogden, Quebec.
