DANIEL & CHANTAL LEGRIS
On behalf of our family, we wanted to announce the passing of our dear father, husband and grandfather, Dr. Leonard Edward Kent, dentist, sportsman and teacher, on October 11, 2020 at his home in the Eastern Townships. He was 89 years old.
He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife Barbara Kent (nee Pattee), son Derek Kent (Joanne), grandchildren Cassandra, Victoria and Maddie Anderson, Taya and Alex Kent, by the Wyatt Family, Cathy, Rick (Pam), Alexandra, Cole and Naia Mae Cobb and great-granddaughter Olivia Knight and brother-in-laws, Dave (Donna), Rick (Bonnie), and Rob (Susie) Pattee. He was predeceased by his cherished daughters Corinne and Keltie Kent. He is the son of Dr. Leonard Kent Sr. and Kay Kent and brother of Rosalie Smith (Buck), Marie Tilley (Dawson), and John Kent (Sandra).
Dr. Kent was a highly regarded and respected dentist in Westmount, adored by his many patients over a forty-plus year career. He proudly served as President of the Canadian Dental Club. After retiring from dentistry, a profession he loved, he devoted his energy to being a gentleman farmer, cutting his perfectly manicured lawns in the Eastern townships, setting up bird feeders and fixing up anything that needed attention.
He was born in Lachine, Quebec and loved all sports, playing high school football and Varsity hockey for the McGill Redmen. Len was also a ski instructor at Bromont where he spent numerous winters skiing with his family. His passion was golf, playing with his family and friends at his home course at Summerlea, at Dufferin Heights in the Eastern Townships and at Bent Tree in Sarasota, Florida. Although he served as President of Summerlea Golf Club, his real claim to fame was shooting his age well into his 80’s.
Len was warm, humble, personable and most importantly, a great Dad, husband, grandfather and friend. We will miss him dearly.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in his honour to the Pat Fletcher Golf Foundation www.patfletcher.com, a non-profit organization, supporting students with an interest in golf and in need of post-secondary financial assistance, two areas that Len was passionate about.
Len was a very positive person who lived every day with the mantra “Keep smiling” - Dr. Leonard Kent (1931-2020).
Unfortunately, due to Covid-19, a Celebration of Life cannot be held at this time but we hope to hold one at a future date.
