Wight, Barry

WIGHT, Barry

2024

It is with deep sadness the family of Barry Allen Wight announce his passing on July 1, 2024 in London, Ontario.

Barry was predeceased by his father, Walter and is lovingly remembered by his mother, Gwen, sister, Carol (Tony) Yaroshak and sons Walter (Krista), and Terry (Stacy).

He was proud grandfather to Cody (Kyla), Jennifer (Jimmy), Deseah (Stephen), Garrett and Maddie.

Barry was a devoted husband to Bonnie, enjoying a busy retirement, sharing his time between London and at home in Dane.  He loved vacationing, attending car shows and driving his beloved Porsche with the top down.

As a heavy equipment mechanic, Barry was able to travel the globe over a long career with Heath and Sherwood, Boart Longyear and finally retiring from the Town of Kirkland Lake in April 2018.

As an avid outdoorsman, his passion for hunting and fishing carries on through his boys.

He will be forever missed.

"Eh, kid."

Celebration of life to be held at Northern College Cafeteria from 1-5 on Saturday, July 13, 2024.

You and your family lived behind us (Faragher Family) in Federal in The late 1950’s and ‘60’s. All of you were wonderful neighbours. We went to Federal Public School and I think The Federal United Church for Sunday School together. May your family find peace in their wonderful memories of you.

REST IN PEACE Barry

The family of Barry Wight

I first met Barry in Haileybury at the Boart shop the Maple shop closed in the early 2000’s. He was a likeable character who had travelled the world and had the stories to back them up. I still re-tell his tale of learning how fast a hippo can actually run while trying to get some good pics, embellishments aside it was a good laugh.
See ya partner.

Kaye & I were saddened to hear of Barry’s passing. It didn’t seem that long ago that Barry stopped to see us in North Bay. We have been friends as well as neighbours when we started out in our younger years. Barry expressed such enthusiasm on what he had accomplished & what he wanted to do in the future. Our deepest sympathies to all who loved him, he will be missed. Rest in Peace Barry ️

Barry's family

So sad and sorry to learn of Barry's passing. I remember Barry from my days growing up in federal. I always had a high regard for Barry. He always treated me well. I sit here thinking about him as the kid I remember (60 ish years ago), knowing that his life was full. That makes me smile. I am saddened we didn't get the chance to connect for coffee and a visit. We did come close, but like normal, life happens. My condolences to his family and friends.

I worked with Barry at Wight Motor Sales when I was a high school student. He taught me everything I know and still use about vehicle maintenance. The daily antics between Barry, his Dad and all the customers made for fun working days pumping gas, washing cars and service bay work. It's been years since I've seen him but will continue to think of him with respect and a smile everytime I check my oil. RIP Barry.

I was so shocked to hear of the tragic loss of Barry. He was a sweet, kind man with a heart of gold. His warmth and happiness rekindled when he met his wife Bonnie, and conveyed, deeply, his happiness with this new life with her.
His retirement and the enjoyment of their new home in London was his pride and joy.
It is so sorrowful that your life was cut short at such a happy time in your life. Rest in peace, sweet man. You will truly be missed.
