MCLEAN, Ann

1933 - 2023

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Ann (née Boone) McLean, our loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, Grandma/Nanny, Great and Great-Great Grandma, and friend to all the lives she touched on April 12, 2023. She suddenly passed away following her wishes to spend one last winter in her home.

Ann married Basil McLean (predeceased) on January 17, 1953 in Kirkland Lake. Together, they raised three children Crystal Pitt (Joe Pitt), Gary McLean (predeceased) and Brenda McLean (Mark Smith). Ann took pride in raising her children and later began a career at Teck Pioneer Residence, where she dedicated 19 years of service.

Ann thoroughly enjoyed spending time at the lake. Post retirement, she spent many years at her cottage on Round Lake with her grandchildren Shannon Lapensee (Frank), Jason Pitt, Andrea McLean (daughter in-law Eija Kousa McLean), Sierra Roberti (Andrew) and Breanna Smith.

She loved to garden and had a passion for knitting. Ann was highly skilled in the kitchen and enjoyed hosting large family gatherings. She always looked forward to her weekly Senior’s Bowling League and catching up with the girls at Timmies. Ann was a faithful Toronto Maple Leafs fan and spent many nights cheering on her favourite hockey team. Scrapbooking was a very important hobby in her life to commemorate her children and grandchildren’s accomplishments.

We would like to thank Tina Woollings, Nurse Practitioner, for her care and compassion over the years, along with Dr. McPherson at Kirkland and District Hospital.

To honour Ann’s wishes, cremation has taken place. In lieu of a funeral service, donations can be made in her memory to The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada or a charity of your choosing.

Ann will be reunited with her husband Basil and son Gary later this spring.

“Love you and miss you – Toodle Loo.”

I was very surprised to read of your mother’s passing. I have many memories of Ann and Basil at round lake, including Gary. Basil showed me many secret spots to fish. I grew with the McLeans and have many great memories. Ann made the best succini bread. RIP from Andy and Judy McKnight

Maclean Family

Please accept my deepest sympathy in the loss of your Cherished Mother. Ann worked side by side at the TPR with my mother Georgette. After retirement, they would visit each other often. They became good friends. I always enjoyed running into your mother. She always asked about my boys. And when mom was placed in the TPR in her last years, Ann always wanted to know how Mom was doing. The passing of one’s mother leaves a void in your heart no one can replace. Just remember the happy, fun times you had. Those memories will bring a smile to your face.
