LORANGER, André

1939 - 2023

With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved father, Andre Loranger, who was killed in a tragic automobile accident, on Friday July 28, 2023. He was 84.

Born in Montreal in1939, Andre lived his life with love, laughter and an unwavering dedication to his family.  Described by many as a true gentleman, Andre was kind, caring, compassionate, generous, patient, always willing to help and never passing judgement. He dedicated his life to his children, was always there for them, and always made sure they had everything they needed. Andre created an open home, where he embraced and welcomed countless friends, many of whom consider him a second father.

Andre, an avid reader, was knowledgeable on everything. There was very little he didn’t know about and always had an amazing perspective. With a passion for building and playing with his tools, Andre was always there to work on a project or lend a helping hand. A life long adventurer, whose plans were put on hold to raise his three boys, he had finally returned to traveling, most recently spending his winter in Spain.  Andre was fit and healthy to the end, swimming in his lake every morning, going for long walks and meticulously maintaining his house.

Andre leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion for his 3 children, Philippe, Alain and Marc, and their spouses. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of his grandchildren, Evan, Louis, Lucas, Jack and Levi, who he adored wholeheartedly.

The void left by Andre’s departure is immeasurable, but the memories he created with us will be cherished forever. As we grieve the loss of an extraordinary father, grandfather and friend, we are comforted in the fact that he lived a fulfilling happy life and will now rest in eternal peace.

To honor his wishes, a simple gathering to celebrate Andre’s life will be held on Saturday September 9, from 3-6pm at Cooperative funéraire de l'Outaouais - 95 Boulevard de la Cité-des-Jeunes, Gatineau. He will be buried in the family plot at the Cote des Neiges cemetery in Montreal, in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada, an organization that was close to his heart.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all family, friends and well wishers for the love and support during this difficult time.

family of Andre Loranger

I send my heartfelt sympathies to your family. I worked with Andre for over 10 years on the Board of Directors for Parc Leslie and live nearby on Hughes Lake. He was a dedicated administrator and promoter of the Parc for many years and greatly contributed to its success. Always friendly, courteous and hard-working, he will be greatly missed by our community. A lovely man. RIP Andre.

My deepest sympathies for the tragic loss of your father. I cannot imagine the heartbreak this has brought to your door - and I wish for all of you peace in the journey ahead, and a time in which the pain is replaced with wonderful memories. Special condolences to my work colleague Phil - you are in my thoughts.

Cordialement,

Jocelyne Delage

We grew very fond of André the more we got to know him. We appreciated how much he loved his sons and grandsons and how kind and generous he was to those around him, including us. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your families at this difficult time.
