Father Yves P. Masse, I.V.Dei
passed away on December 16, 2019 at the age of 82, surrounded by his loved ones. He surrendered to God’s will and faced death with the calm and courage faith provides. He will be missed by his sisters : Huguette (Pat), Michelle (Don) and Rosalie (Joe); his brother Camille (Joanne); his children Louise (Claude), Charles (Elizabeth) and Julien (Corinne); his grandchildren : Émilie (Danijel), Charles-André (Joëlle), Julie, Isabelle, Vincent and Thomas; his great-grandchildren : Ariel, Jordan and Xavier as well as numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Born in Cochrane, Ontario on April 25, 1937, he grew up in Windsor. Alumni from the University of Ottawa (1959) and Saint-Paul University (1989), Yves joined the Voluntas Dei Institute in 1986 and, after a career in administration and management, was ordained March 1, 1997. Yves has notably been Padre for the Legion (branch 54 & 58), Padre for the Knights of Columbus (council 12189), Chaplain at the Elizabeth-Bruyère Hospital and founding member of the Saint-Richard parish in Gatineau. He also volunteered at the CAAP Outaouais, the Arche Agapè, the Gatineau Hospital, Tel-Aide Outaouais and where his help was required.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday January 21, 2020 at 1 p.m. at the Saint-Joseph cathedral, 245 Saint-Joseph Boulevard, Gatineau (Hull). The family will receive condolences at the cathedral starting at 12:15 p.m.
