SEAMAN, William Lloyd

William Lloyd Seaman 
July 16, 1934 - December 24, 2021 

Born in Charlottetown, P.E.I. to William Reagh Seaman and Lillian E. Moore. 
Graduate of Prince of Wales College (PWC), McGill University (McDonald College) 1956 and the University of Wisconsin (Madison) PhD. 1960. 
In 1959, Lloyd married his beloved, Olive Parkman, daughter of Reginald and Evelyn Parkman (nee Mallett) of East Royalty, PEI. Most loving father of Jeff (Rachel), Judy Mason (Paul), and Colin (Giselle). His grandchildren; Jamie, Renée, Willa, Quinn, and Hannah were a joy to his life. Fondly remembered by many family and friends in PEI and Ontario.  
Lloyd joined the research station at Agriculture Canada (Ottawa), where he worked on seed-born diseases and documentation of plant diseases. The main focus of his research was on winter wheat. He was asked by the Canadian Phytopathological Society, to design and co-edit two illustrative books: Diseases of Field Crops in Canada and Diseases and Insect Damage to Vegetable Crops in Canada. Both were recognized as Canadian bestsellers. Lloyd re-designed The Canadian Journal of Plant Pathology, became technical editor for twenty years and was honoured as a Fellow of the Society. Retiring in 1998, he then joined Olive as a ski instructor at Camp Fortune for 15 years. 
Lloyd, Olive and their family had many happy times camping and canoeing, including northern canoe trips in summer and western ski trips in winter. Summer holidays were spent visiting family and friends in PEI.  
In his youth Lloyd was active in Canadian Scouting and in Ottawa, a dedicated member of the 115th scout troop for fifty years. 
Lloyd was very kind and generous to family and community, always eager to help fix and build wherever fixing or building was needed.  
Lloyd has family dealing with Primary Progressive Aphasia. He asked that donations in memory be made to the Aphasia Centre of Ottawa , www.aphasiaottawa.org/support/donation or The Ottawa Heart Institute Foundation. 
A service of remembrance will be held at a later date.

Family

So sorry that Lloyd passed away. I remember the first time I met him was at my uncle Alan Douglas new house in Brackley, when we both immediately took over inventory checking Alan’s furniture being unloaded from the moving van. We never stopped talking and had a fun afternoon. He was always so knowledgeable and I enjoyed his stories about your families friendship with the Douglas family. My condolences to your family.

Lloyd was always a go to person at Camp Fortune. He offered a smile to everyone. His love of life was infectious. I new that he worked in agriculture research but I had no idea that he was so accomplished! A wonderful man who lead a wonderful life.
