He peacefully passed away with his family by his side at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute on Sunday, April 14, 2024, in his 86th year. Victor was not just a beloved husband of Micheline (nee Guillemette) but a pillar of strength and love for his children, Mark and Cynthia (Marc Dubé), and Amanda's cherished 'Grampa.' His love extended to his numerous nieces and nephews. His brothers Bernard and John (Mary McNamara) and his sister Mary (the late Ray Joly Sr.) predeceased him, leaving a void that can never be filled .
He will be greatly missed by his brothers Lewis (the late Margaret McNamara) and Patrick (Maureen Huygens, the late Stella Arthurs) and his sisters Eileen (John Monaghan) and Clare (the late Jack Flynn).
Victor's career journey was a testament to his unwavering dedication and a source of inspiration for many. He served the National Research Council Canada and the National Aeronautical Section for an impressive 40 years, leaving an indelible mark on his field.
His retirement years reflected his zest for life as he and his wife, Micheline, embarked on adventures worldwide and enjoyed outdoor activities like camping, boating, fishing, snowmobiling and skiing.
Victor's willingness to help was a defining characteristic that left a lasting impression on many lives. Whether it was a family member, a friend, or a neighbor, Vic was always there, ready to lend a hand or fix something. His ingenuity and creativity were evident in the many structures and devices he designed and built for his loved ones and in how he selflessly gave of himself to others .
Victor's devotion to his family was unwavering. His home, a sanctuary of love and laughter, was a constant source of joy for him. From the warmth of Sunday dinners to the spontaneity of visits from friends, neighbors, and his children's friends, his house was a beacon of hospitality. His culinary explorations, always eager to try new recipes, were a testament to his open-mindedness. Victor's love for card games was well-known, and he eagerly looked forward to his regular game nights with his close friends.
Victor will be fondly remembered by many and dearly missed by family and friends.
