GOLD, Thomas

1946 - 2022

On May 24, 2022, Thomas (aka Tom/Tommy) Gold passed away. Beloved son of the late Frank Gold and Helen O’Shaughnessy, Tom spent his whole life in Swastika. He is dearly missed by his cousins. Tom spent many years working as a dishwasher at the Kirkland Lake District Hospital, and became known to many people in Kirkland Lake because of his routines, hobbies, interests and favourite eating places. He loved cars, dogs, driving around, and regularly visiting his favourite social clubs and restaurants in Kirkland Lake. While private by nature, he did enjoy a good chat, and was well liked by those he met along his life journey. He also very much enjoyed his annual visits to his family members in eastern Ontario.

Those wishing to make donations in his name are encouraged to donate to Heart and Stroke Foundation, Cancer Society or War Amps. A private family service of family and friends will be held at a later date.

To the family and friends of Tommy

I am so sorry and deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Tommy. Having grown up in Swastika, and knowing Tommy and the sweet fellow he was, well, just really makes me sad. To Tommy's family and friends and fellow Swastitians, I offer my deepest sympathy. Rest easy Tommy, you were such a hard worker and a really nice guy.

We were very shocked and saddened to read the news of Tommy’s death . I taught Tommy many years ago at the Highschool and since than we would see each other occasionally about town, at the Kenogami Kitchen, and in his car! He was a kind , gentle soul who had many friends from school, Swastika, and the Hospital. We will miss him. Our condolences to his family and many friends—Brian and Gale

Tom's Neice

I have known Tom for over 20 years. His Mom Helen was good friends of my in laws...Ron and Joyce McGugan. Tom was a kind person. I think he must have had a hard time with Covid and the last 2 years on his own. He was always in one restaurant or another. RIP Tom!

Gold, Gilmore, O'Shaughnessy, Cain, French families

Tom Gold was well named, he had a heart made of that precious metal. He was an upbeat friendly person with a passion for cars and knowledge about them that was impressive. I am so sorry that with the passing of Tom we have lost our last family member in Swastika. My beloved birthplace, in the house next door to Tom's.
