It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ted Elliott, loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and great-uncle, after a longperiod of living with Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. Cherished by many, Ted was a humble, kind, gentle man full of energy and always willing to help anyone. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife Katharine (Kathie, neeSmit), children David and Louise (Paul), and his grandchildren, Isaac and Alex. He leaves his sister Margaret, Brother Robert (Margaret) and sister-in-law Jan Hawkins (Don). In addition to his devotion to his family, Ted had a distinguished career in the federal Public Service, most recently with the Communications Security Establishment (CSE). He was one of the founders of Ancoura, a not-forprofit charity dedicated to affordable housing, community and support for adults living with mental illness. Ted enjoyed playing golf, was an avid ham radio operator and member of the Radio Amateurs Club of Ottawa, and a carpenter. Having grown up on a farm, Ted was also a DIY expert who could fix anything. Special thanks to the wonderful care team at the Ravines, and to palliative nurse Kate MacKenzie of Bayshore Home Care.

A celebration of life will be held at the First Unitarian Congregation of Ottawa at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to Ancoura (www.ancoura.ca), 30 Cleary Avenue, Ottawa, ON K2A 4A1, or to Parkinson Canada, 4211 Yonge Street, Toronto, M2P 2A9 would be greatly appreciated.

Dear Katharine,
I remember your dear Ted just as you have described him: a humble, kind, gentle man full of energy and always willing to help anyone. He will be deeply missed .... I particularly remember a meeting at your house about affordable housing, for which Ted prepared many types of pizza - delicious. He was a warm and engaging host, with a joyful disposition, and I thought how lucky we were to be in his company. I was sad to notice some years later the beginning stages of his illnesses and to learn of its progression over recent years. I regret not to have thought to say goodbye to Ted before we moved away from Ottawa and am glad to have been able to re-connect with you during the last year on First U zoom bridge.
