FAHEY (NEE WINDLE), Sylvia

1944 - 2025

Sylvia Fahey (nee Windle) passed away peacefully on January 10, 2025 at La Maison des Collines in Wakefield, Quebec, after a battle with cancer fought with strength and grace.

Sylvia was the daughter of Grant and Anne Windle (both predeceased) and sister to Joan, Raymond (predeceased)/Barbara, Sheila/Mike Pelissier, Bryan/Sari (both predeceased), Nancy, Charlie and Trevor/Ginette, and sister-in-law to Douglas Fahey/Maureen and Raymond Fahey (predeceased). For 31 years, Sylvia was married to her beloved Bert Fahey (predeceased 1997) and they raised 4 children together - Stacie (Rosser), Jo-Anne (Stefan), Michael (Carly) and Donna (Matthew), who all miss her dearly. Her grandchildren were a special joy in her life - Robyn (Brendan Cote), Austin, Avery, Lennin, Weston, Desmond, Kelton and Lawson. Sylvia was fortunate to have a second love in life for the past 24 years with Gerald Lynott of Cantley, Quebec. She will be sorely missed by all of us and our extended families including nieces, nephews and friends alike.

Sylvia was happiest when surrounded by family and friends. A family get together at Syl’s was always filled with laughter, love, good food and endless desserts made by her with joy.

The family extends a heartfelt thanks to all who have supported us and Sylvia through her courageous battle, stopping in to share old stories and creating new memories.

Special thanks to staff and volunteers at the Gatineau Hospital and La Maison des Collines in Wakefield.

If you wish to make a donation in memory of Sylvia, please consider the Canadian Cancer Society, La Maison des Collines, Gatineau Hospital or any other charity close to your heart.

In the summer, there will be a private graveside service for family members to celebrate this beautiful human being for the hero and role model she was to us.
