Donaghy, Shirley

DONAGHY, Shirley

1945 - 2022

It is with sadness that the family of Shirley announces her peaceful passing on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at the Wales Home. She was 76. She leaves to mourn her sister Dawn (life partner Clément Dubois), her nieces Tammy Pelletier (children Alyson, Steven and Tyler Rouillard) and Vicky Pelletier (Eric Bilodeau).

Shirley began her teaching career in Knowlton in 1965 for two years, and then moved to Chateauguay to teach for 33 years. She retired in 2000, enjoyed travelling and going to Cuba often.

On July 17, 2019, Shirley moved to the Wales Home. She had great respect for the staff who are dedicated, loving and compassionate, in whatever position they held. The family offers special thanks for looking after our dear Shirley.

If anyone wishes, donations can be made to the Wales Home Foundation in Shirley’s memory.

Dawn and family

So sad to hear of Shirley's passing. She was such a fun gal. The last time we went to visit aunt Lena, the four of us went out for dinner. That was just before the pandemic so we haven't been back since. Shirley will be missed.

Shirley’s Family

She will always be Miss Donaghy to me, such a wonderful teacher, such a wonderful person. She was my grade 1 teacher in 1969 and my son’s kindergarten teacher in 1995. She meant a lot to all her students..I sure will miss our Facebook chitchats…sending my most sincere condolences to her family and friends.

Shirley family

Shirley was one of my favorite teachers. I have very fond memories of her. She was always smiling, patient and kind to me as a child. Over the years she took the time to comment on my Facebook posting, I will miss those comments. My deepest condolence to the family.

Family of Shirley Donaghy

So sorry to hear of Shirley's passing. She was a wonderful influence to many young people, including my grandson David Marcotte. She was a great, loveable friend to many. May she rest in peace.

Ms. Donaghy was my dad's first grade teacher at Julius Richardson school and my Kindergarten teacher at CPS. I even used to trick or treat at her house! She was such a great woman, and clearly loved teaching! Wheeling Shelly the turtle to the library is still one of my most cherished memories! Both my father and I send our condolences! She will be greatly missed.
