NELSON, Sandra "Sandy"

1938 - 2024

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Sandra Vivian (“Sandy”) Nelson on December 17, 2024 at Teck Pioneer Residence in Kirkland Lake.

Sandra was born in Grimsby, Ontario on July 16, 1938, moved to Kirkland Lake at a young age and has been a proud resident ever since. Sandra loved the Toronto Blue Jays, playing cards at the legion, knitting, and spending time at the cottage.

Sandra is reunited with her beloved husband William (“Bill”) Nelson and her parents Jean and Earl (“Duffy”) Duffield. Cherished mother of Lori (Don) and Bruce (Anna). Proud grandma to Lisa, Stacy, Shane (Kusum) and Kim (Aja). Loving sister of Karen. Sandra will be fondly remembered by her nephews, their families, extended family and friends.

Memorial donations may be made to the Luso Canadian Charitable Society (https://lusoccs.org/donate).  Sandra will be laid to rest in the family plot of the Glen Oaks Funeral Home and Cemetery, Oakville Ontario at a later date. Thank you to the staff of Ontario Homecare, Closing the Gap and Teck Pioneer Residence for the exceptional care provided to Sandra.

Please accept my sympathies on the passing of a lovely lady. Have known Sandy for over 40 years going back to when she and Bill operated Nelson Construction. And visited her at TPR several times in the past 2 weeks. RIP Sandy.

I appreciated Sandy’s friendship more than she could have known. our Thursday lunches always gave me something to look forward to during a most difficult time in my life. I was able to see Sandy last year and for that I am grateful. I will always hold her in my heart. Thinking of you my friend.
