BISSON, Ruby

1930 - 2022

Forever In Our Hearts –

Mrs. Ruby Madeline Bisson (Simmons) born on February 2nd, 1930 in Toronto, ON to Louise Villneff, and George Simmons passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 3rd, 2022 at the age of 92 with family by her side. She was married to Emile Joseph Bisson for 66 years.

She is survived by her children: John Bisson (Margo), Don Bisson (Valerie), Judy Bisson (Leon), and Peter Bisson. Her Grandchildren: Dave Bisson (Neisha), Jennifer McConachie (Sean), Julie Bisson (Jonathan), and Jason Key-Bisson (Father – Jess Key). Step-Grandchildren: Yannick, Carina, London & Piper. Her Great-Grandchildren: Adam, Alice, Noah, and Austin.

In her early years, she lived in Toronto working at Metro-Toronto School for the deaf teaching perceptional handicap children, while raising her 4 deaf children. She then learned reflexology and then furthered her career and got well known internationally as far away as Singapore, as a Master Reflexologist. She travelled the world, with the Reflexology Association of Canada teaching and training students in Reflexology and was instrumental in the foundation of the International Council of Reflexologists. She moved to New Liskeard in 1985 to be closer to her late mother while building her home in Twin Lakes, and opening her practise there in reflexology. She had been practising reflexology in her clinic Ruby’s Reflexions from her home up until this past month, and did not retire.

Ruby is very well known not only in Northern Ontario, but through-out Canada, and the world as a spiritual, compassionate, and loving woman, who always put others before herself. Over the years, above and beyond the reflexology treatments with clients, the friendships, conversations, and relationships she cherished very deeply will forever touch those who she came in contact with. She was loved by many and helped a great number of people. Ruby will be deeply missed by so many but her blessings and memories will never be forgotten and cherished for many more lifetimes to come.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 6, 2022 at the Perrin Funeral Chapel from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. until 8:45 p.m.

Our Family

We regret that we're unable to get up north from here in Pennsylvania to be with the family during this time. Grandma Ruby lives on in the memories of others, and telling stories, anecdotes, and the lessons she taught all during her long and full life are how one continues to keep her memory alive.

With love,

In memory of Ruby

Ruby was my second cousin and my mother spoke of her very fondly because when my mother left northern Ontario as a youngster, Ruby took her in and was an inspiration to her. I had the honour and privilege of meeting Ruby in the summer of 2019, when I visited from Ecuador where I live and found my way to her cozy home and clinic and had a reflexology treatment with my mom and my two daughters, and of course, she healed me of my recurring sciatica! She loved little dogs, angels, her children, grandchildren, her patients, and the many comforts of home. She loved to chat and had a warm, uplifting way about her. Sending love and blessings to her family, and may her practice and the good she did live on through them.

The family

Our family and extended family got to know Ruby when we moved to Hudson Township 21 years ago. She was a very giving, selfless person who always put others first. It didn't matter what day or even time of day, Ruby was always willing to sacrifice her time and wants for the needs of her clients. She had many gifts and one of her greatest was her ability to love. I got to know her well while sitting in her purple chair in her clinic. She was an amazing lady. We were all blessed to know her and we will all miss her until we meet again.
May you find comfort in knowing how much she was loved.

Family and friends of Ruby Bisson

My heartfelt condolences to family and friends of the passing of my cousin Ruby. I am Dianne Brett the daughter of Helen Nowry. Ruby made a profound impact on my life. I lived in Northern Ontario where it was difficult to find employment. Ruby generously offered to let myself and my friend Joan move in with her and her family. She took us under her wing and provided us with lodging, meals, and sage advice. Within two weeks Joan and I found employment in downtown Toronto. We stayed with Ruby for approximately a year, until we could afford accommodations elsewhere.
During that year I got to know Ruby and have fond memories of her and her family. She was the captain of her ship. Joan and I felt welcome and enjoyed conversing with her about every topic under the sun. She was a positive thinker who gave us encouragement and sage advise.
Ruby was a very spiritual, kind hearted, and inspirational leader who involved herself in many projects including teaching, healing, and helping the world be a better place.
I believe that Ruby had many different philosophies but one that would describe her best for me would be “You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.”
Your love for and collection of angels await you now. You were loved and will be sorely missed. Rest in peace.

Ruby's family

I had visited Ruby's home on Twin lakes several times and I always left smiling. She was a very caring person. The last time I had booked an appointment, I was surprised to hear she was still practicing and true to her word of having no intentions of retiring. She had healing hands!

Bisson Family

Dear Bisson family, I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Please accept my heartfelt condolences. I was saddened by the news of Ruby’s passing. She was such a wonderful lady who had an amazing gift and with whom I had the pleasure of having a beautiful friendship. I was one of her patients for quite a number of years and I always looked forward to my appointments with her. I loved sitting in her purple chair, even though I knew Ruby would be hurting me by pressing on those two spots to get me straight again! ;) I was always amazed that it worked! I will forever cherish the conversations I had with her over the years. She was a very special lady with the kindest heart. Ruby will undoubtedly be missed by so many. May you Rest In Peace my beautiful friend.

Ruby Bisson was my reflexology instructor for my teacher certification in the early 1990's. I have thought of her often with very fond memories, so decided to key her name into Google and find out where she is now, to get in touch. Ruby was such an inspiration to me, and will always hold a special place in my heart. I am so sad to find she has passed, but I'm certain she is still inspiring others.
