Ellerton, Robert "Rob"

ELLERTON, Robert "Rob"

1946 - 2022

With great sadness, the family announces the passing of Robert “Rob” Ellerton at the age of 76. Mr. Ellerton passed away at the Blanche River Health Hospital, Englehart Site, in the afternoon of Friday, July 1st with his family by his side.

He was born at home on June 24th, 1946 in Dack Township, near Charlton, ON to the late Charles Ellerton and Florence Smith. Mr. Ellerton is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carol Ellerton (Carter), his daughter, Mary Cook (George Cook) and son, Brian Ellerton (Denise Mark). He was a cherished grandfather to Laura Cook, Amy Cook-Kucharik (Kris-John), Scott Ellerton and Alex Ellerton, and great-grandfather to Myles Kucharik.

Mr. Ellerton was the loving brother of May Walton (Ken), William Ellerton (Judy), Margaret Hewitt (late Robert) and Jessie Hewitt (late Brian). He is survived by his brother-in-law Kenneth Carter (Denise) and Doreen Butler and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Thomas Ellerton (Jean), George Ellerton, and Gladys Coombes (Richard).

Rob, known to many as Bob, was a carpenter by trade and stayed passionate about woodworking well into his retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman, spending his time camping, fishing, hunting, gardening and feeding the birds. He enjoyed live country music and community dances, like those once held at the old Robillard Dance Hall. Most importantly, he always had time for his family.

In keeping with Rob’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a celebration of life in the coming days.

The family would like to thank all of his home healthcare workers and the staff at Englehart Hospital. Donations in Rob’s memory can be made to the Palliative Care department of the Blanche River Health Englehart Site or the Englehart Food Bank https://my.charitableimpact.com/charities/englehart-area-food-bank. Condolences, contributions and memorial candles may be left at www.timiskamingfc.com.
