Please accept my most heartfelt condolences. I met Rick when we both worked on the Joint Venture Theatre’s production of Les Mis. We discovered we had quite a bit in common - we studied voice with the same teacher, we both had an avid interest in genealogy, and gardening In fact, I led him to a recording of his mother’s relative, a well known British singer, James Cairncroft.

Rick was very proud of his family and their accomplishments. I will miss our FB chats and laughs. Rick was a wonderful man and our sun is shining a little less bright. You have earned your wings, Rick. May you Rest In Peace.

During my early years growing up Rick and I spent many years in the same class and attended together many events and parties. I have fond memories of him with one being co-host of our monthly radio programs. My prayers go out to his family.

I send my deepest condolences to you and your family at this time. Rick was an active member of the Englehart community and he will be sorely missed. I always enjoyed the newsy, witty, and just plain funny postings on Facebook. Mom and I stopped in to visit Rick the time we came north to bury dad. We had a lovely visit and a cup of tea. I pray God’s strength for you and your loved ones at this sad time.

Keven and I were so sorry to hear of Rick’s passing. Growing up with Brenda as my best friend, I was one of the lucky ones invited to dine with the Heaslip family on occasion and witness Rick’s quick wit and terrific sense of humour. The banter between Rick and Lloyd had Pat’s tiny kitchen echoing with laughter. May his legacy of love and laughter bring you all comfort.

It's been more than 50 years since Rick taught me how to swim at the Englehart Pool, but I've never forgotten what a great instructor he was. He had a winning combination of patience, discipline and a sense of humour. Every time I jump in a pool and swim laps, I can hear his encouraging words. He was the glue that held the swim team together, and gave me the confidence, even in those early years, to compete in regional swim meets.

My condolences to Rick's family.
