Rev. Doreen
With heartfelt sympathy at the passing of Rev. Deane, one of the dearest ministers who graced the pulpit of St. Andrew's United, Delson.
I know that my grandparents, and my parents (Harold Sr. and Gladys Ball, and Harold Jr. and Dorothy Ball held him in very high regard, as did all of the folks he ministered to during his time there.
May God richly bless you, and strengthen you during this very difficult time.
Best regards,
Brenda Ball and family

I was so saddened to read the notice today. You and Deane were such wonderful leaders, counsellors and friends, as Ministers to the congregation of Summerlea. I remember your time there and I know you both held very special places in the hearts of my parents, Huntly & Nancy. I still have their pictures from the times you welcomed them and many others, to your beautiful place in Magog. My sincere condolences to the entire clan. Go gently on the rest of your journey Rev. Deane.

I was privileged to serve with Deane in Montreal Presbytery beginning in 1990. Although we hadn't pursued a friendship over the years, the hospitality of your company and your home (to us and our friends) was a treasured gift in 2015 at the time of our anniversary. The news of Deane's passing came as a surprise to us, and we offer our condolences and support at this time of transition for all of you. "May the blessing of the Lord be upon you; we bless you in the name of the Lord."

Dear Doreen,
I just got this news and it is still hitting me. You two have been so close for so many years, perhaps more than any other couple I have known. Deane was leaving UTC when I was entering (the first time!). He has been my minister, my friend, my colleague with whom I did not always agree. He is the person who encouraged me to go for ministry again when I thought all bridges were burned and doors closed to me. I would not be where I am today but for his counsel. I will try to attend the service on Monday. I know you will have a lot of support from your family and friends.

Doreen and all. What a shock as I did not know that Deane was ill. I do not know if I can attend the funeral as I am wheel chair bound and I can not get around, but I am trying hard to see if some one can bring me. I will be making a donation to the Memorial Fund at Creek United in Memory of Deane. Doreen and Family please accept my deepest sympathies. Faithfully yours May Banks

Dear Doreen - I am so sorry to hear of Deane’s passing. This photo should be entitled “Essence of Deane.” One picture expresses more than 1000 words could say. He has and always will have a special place in my heart.

Words can't express my sadness on learning of Deane's passing. He was truly a beacon to the entire community: kind, wise and the soul of integrity. His words were always well thought out and were just what was needed to ease someone's pain, smooth over differences or help someone find the right path. And his smile spoke volumes, bringing sunshine into every room he entered. He was a modest person but exerted a wide influence for good that touched a great many people. My heart goes out to you at this difficult time. May the love of everyone who knows you support you and your wonderful family.

Dear Doreen;
What a very sad shock to read of Deane's death in the Record yesterday. We assumed over the years that he would be around for ever, kind, steady , always the good husband, father, willing and able Pastor. Deane will be missed by our family; remembered by me as a serious student at UTC, a supportive and wise colleague over the years. Rita-Claire never forgets his caring and creative ministry at Summerlea, and, with you, his ministry with her parents. Together you represented the essence of team ministry.
And, what an example of parenthood you showed to all! Firm and fun loving; together with you, Jim, Leslie and Dorothy and the grandchildren will miss Deane greatly.
As you have prayed for so many over the years, we pray for you now.
Many Blessings

Thank you for sharing this. I was surprised to hear. I have many fond memories of your Dad. This picture so accurately captures it. He was so fun, always laughing. I remember him when you had the bakery in Magog, full of flour, big laugh - such a long time ago...
It has been too long since we’ve seen you. May God encourage your hearts as you grieve and remember him.
