Morrison, Rathwell

MORRISON, Rathwell

1931 - 2024

Rathwell Morrison, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2024, at the age of 93. Born on November 14, 1931, Rathwell was a beacon of dedication throughout his life and a true elder statesman in the town of Arundel, Quebec.

Rathwell was in his 70th year of marriage to his cherished wife and love of his life, Barbara Staniforth. Together, they built a life filled with love and mutual respect, setting a profound example of commitment and partnership. Their union was blessed with three children-two daughters: Cheryl Ann Morrison and Karen (Steve) Enright, one son Jeffrey (Cheryl) Morrison -who were the pride and joy of Rathwell's life. He was also a devoted grandfather to six grandchildren: Laura, Kristy, Lindsay, Shayne, Emily, and Grace, each of whom held a special place in their Boppa's heart.

Known for his unwavering work ethic and strong-willed personality, Rathwell was a man who believed in the power of hard work, the importance of family and of helping others. His career was marked by a steadfast dedication to his profession, as a hotel owner of nearly 25 years, and manager of the Arundel Natural Science School, earning him the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends alike. Rathwell's generosity and willingness to lend a helping hand, his quick wit and strength of personality, were hallmarks of his character, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Active in the Masonic Lodge and Grace Anglican Church, Rathwell's legacy is one of love, integrity, and service to others. He also held a strong connection to the great outdoors, as an avid angler and hunter. His life was a testament to the values he held dear, and his memory will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.

In honouring Rathwell's life, we celebrate a man who lived with purpose and grace, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and dedication that will endure in the hearts of those he loved. A memorial service will be held in Arundel, Quebec, in the spring and more information will be shared once it becomes available.
