MCGUIRE, Patrick

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Patrick McGuire on December 3rd, 2019 at the age of 93. Pat leaves behind his grieving wife of 50 years, Jackie McGuire (Jacqueline Côté), his children Danny (Jessica), Derek (Hélène), and Kathleen (Philippe), as well as his grandchildren Brigitte, Liam, Eva, Maximus, and Samson, his brothers and sisters-in-laws, as well as Sandra and Shawn, in addition to other members of his family and his many friends and relatives.

Pat was born on August 8th, 1926 in Montreal. He grew up in Verdun and later moved to Laval. In 1960, Pat joined the Canadian Institute of Hypnotism and was well known throughout Eastern Canada performing shows for decades and helping people quit smoking, losing weight and other anxieties.

on Sunday the 15th of December 2019, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, followed by the funeral service at 7:00 pm in the Chapel of the Residence Funeraire Laval.

Donations in Pat's memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Fondation Cité de la Santé, where he received outstanding care in the last weeks of his life.

Please accept my sincerest condolences regarding the passing of Pat. My thoughts and prayers are with each of you during this time. However, my thoughts are also filled with many great memories of Pat; particularly the countless hours Danny and I spent riding in back of the big blue Cadillac while in traffic en route to Loyola every morning for 4 years of high school talking about hockey and cramming for the exam of the day! Pat always greeted you with a smile and a sincere interest in your well-being; regardless of the passage of time. He was a great man that I will remember fondly forever. Rest in peace, Pat.

We are sorry to hear about Pat's passing, we have gained an angel in heaven that watches over us. We hope that the love of family and friends will comfort and strengthen the family in the days ahead. When visiting, I will always remember sharing with Pat his favourite breakfast, french toast with pure maple syrup, that Jackie lovingly would make, and Pat giving me a weird look when I added tomato ketchup.

Je souhaitais vous offrir toutes mes sympathies. Je partage votre chagrin. J'ai été de passage dans votre vie comme enseignante au primaire, mais sachez que je ne vous ai pas oubliés. C'est pourquoi je me permets ce petit mot qui je le souhaite en est un de réconfort. J'emprunte les mots d'Ormerson qui dit qu'il y a quelque chose de plus fort que la mort, c'est la présence des absents dans la mémoire des vivants.
