Surtees, Norma

SURTEES, Norma

1932 - 2022

On May 21st 2022, we said goodbye to this extraordinary lady at the Teck Pioneer Residence in Kirkland Lake. Norma was a pillar of strength and a very resilient woman. She was pre-deceased by her parents Lloyd and Mamie Miller, her husband Leonard(May 2016), her sister Vivian(2012), and her brother-in-law Joseph Webber. Norma is survived by her daughter Lynda(Rick) Peters and Debbie Surtees(Craig). Loving granny to Mark Peters(Maegan), Michael Peters(Jennifer), Derek Webber(Melissa), Kerry Weber(Howard) and six great grandchildren. Norma is also survived by her sister Shirley Desjardins and brother Gilbert Nash(Rosie).

Norma loved to dance, with many evenings spent dancing at the Encore Club. Norma enjoyed her sports. Bowling and slo-pitch ball were high on her priority list. She also had a great passion for her flowers.

Norma resided at the Teck Pioneer Residence for the past seven years where she was always treated with compassion and kindness, and Norma was always eager to participate in numerous activities offered to her at TPR.

The family wishes to sincerely thank the staff at the Teck Pioneer Residence for their professionalism and for providing Norma with such a wonderful place to live her remaining years with dignity. We wrote her name in our hearts and that is where it will stay.

Donations in Norma’s memory can be made to the Teck Pioneer Residence online.

There will be no formal service as requested by Norma

Aww Lynda and Debbie and families
I am sending you a big hug on the loss of your mom.
A mom she is the glue that keeps the family together.
I always talked to her when I visited my sister there, she always gave me a beautiful smile.
I enjoyed many meals and at her home in King Kirkland, they are some of my fondest memories of my school years.
She will live on in your hearts and your children.

My deepest sympathy to you all. Playing slo'pitch with Norma and the rest of King Kirkland ladies was great fun. Working at KLCVI with Len was a hoot and a holler as well. He sure could play that fiddle and Norma was so proud of him. They both had a well used sense of humor and we shared a whole lot of laughter over many years.
I will miss seeing Norma at TPR.

Aunt Norma left us with so many lasting fond memories and warm thoughts. In all sincerity, both she and your Dad had such a significant influence in my life. She always made everyone feel welcome and exuded kindness, comfort and class in her usual quiet way. She carried an unassuming strength within her. Aunt Norma was one of the most caring and compassionate women I ever knew. Our deepest condolences, thoughts and hearts go out to you and your families.
