Nicole Thérèse Préfontaine Moore
April 11, 1946 - March 26, 2024
Nicole Thérèse Préfontaine Moore, 77, passed away on March 26, 2024, at The Ottawa Hospital (Civic Campus) in Ottawa, Ontario. The cause of her death was Stage 4 lung cancer.
She was predeceased by her parents, Lucienne Santerre and Paul Préfontaine, and her brother Bernard and is survived by her sisters Micheline, Suzanne and Marie-Anne. She is also survived by her two daughters Jacqueline (Samson) and Julie-Anne, her grandchild Alyssa (Fignole), her great-grandchild Sumaiyaa, as well as many other family members and friends whom she loved dearly.
Nicole was born in Verdun, Quebec, on April 11, 1946. She was a jovial person with a hearty laugh who loved to cook and enjoyed a good meal in the company of others. She also loved to sew and made clothes for her daughters when they were young. She worked many years as a secretary with the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board in the area of education of children with special needs.
The family will be holding a funeral service and reception for her at the Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica located at 385 Sussex Drive in Ottawa on Saturday, June 1, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Free parking is available in the blue spots behind the cathedral (entrance on Parent Avenue). The burial of her ashes will commence at 1:30 p.m. on the same day at the Notre-Dame Cemetery located on the corner of St-Laurent Boulevard and Montreal Road.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to one of Nicole's favourite charities: Diabetes Canada, the Canadian Cancer Society or the Ottawa Humane Society.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Denisse Pella Fernandez and Dr. Nicholas Costain in particular and all of the other health-care professionals who showed compassion towards her and took good care of her many health problems.
